Amanda Knox Admits 'I Do Not Know What Happened that Night'
Amanda Knox Has Already Been Convicted and Sentenced Once in the Murder of Meredith Kercher - Will She Be Found Guilty This Time, Too?
Rudy Guede took the stand against Amanda Knox in a courtroom in Italy this week, refusing to say she is anything but guilty -- along with Amanda Knox's then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito. But it may be Amanda Knox's own words that are her worst enemy in her appeal trial, saying to the court, "I do not know what happened that night."
According to the Washington Post, Amanda Knox asked to address the appeal court audience but had to first hear testimony from Guede, who was called by the prosecution to rebut allegations being put forth by Knox's defense team. Knox's defense posits that conversations alleged to have occurred between Guede and a former cell mate in prison could exonerate the Seattle, Washington student convicted of murdering her roommate Meredith Kercher.
After Rudy Guede verbalized for the court that the allegations made by his former cell mate were untrue -- that he had never said Knox or Sollecito were innocent in the murder -- the prosecutor read a letter Guede sent to a news outlet last year in the spring, emphasizing the guilt of Knox and Sollecito.
Immediately following, Rudy Guede was ushered out of the courtroom proceedings, which is standard protocol in Italian courts.
Amanda Knox, however, according to her mother, desired to be able to speak to Guede -- and for him to have to hear what she had to say following his testimony. But the convicted murderess of Meredith Kercher was not given that ability. Instead, she was allowed to address the courtroom audience and officials instead.
According to the Washington Post, Amanda Knox expressed surprise at Guede's testimony but went on to say, "I do not know what happened that night."
