Amazing Race Season 16 Finale - Who Will Win One Million Dollars?

Tracie Walker
The Amazing Race, Season 16, is down to the last three teams. Who will win the one million dollars?

The twin brothers, Jordan and Dan, don't appear on the surface to be a very strong team. They struggle with a lot of the tasks, especially Jordan, who is easily discouraged, sometimes to the point of being tearful. They have a lot of trouble with cabs, too, and Jordan generally has a melt down as he puzzles over why saying an English word slowly and distinctly and frequently to a non-English speaking person doesn't somehow translate to understanding. However, they do persevere, which seems to be their strongest trait. And even though Jordan appears to be the weaker team member, being on The Amazing Race was his particular dream, so he's willing to work hard. When the brothers chose to do a Fast Forward, I was impressed when, despite a fear of heights, they still managed to crawl across a small horizontal ladder from one observation pod to another while 541 feet up on a huge Ferris wheel called the Singapore Flyer. This proves they can dig pretty deep when it's crunch time.

Brent and Caite are models who are dating. Brent seems pleasant and relatively easy going, although he's gotten frustrated a few times, which slows him down. Caite, rather infamous from a Teen USA pageant in which, as Miss South Carolina, she botched an interview question rather humiliatingly, has something to prove. Her ridiculous answer has been played ad nauseum on You Tube and she is razzed constantly about being stupid. She does not appear to be at all stupid, however, and is definitely a trooper. She is young, bright-eyed and energetic and gives her all to most every task without whining or complaining. She is a bit of a potty mouth at times, though, and not nearly as nice to Brent as he is to her. Come to think of it, she is apt to say unpleasant things about some of the other contestants fairly often, too. But Brent and Caite work pretty well together most of the time, get the tasks done quickly and efficiently and are a fairly strong team. She's the "last woman standing" which gives her extra confidence.

Jet and Cord, the cowboy brothers, are far and away my favorite team. They are gentlemen, unfailingly polite, and very masculine. Working cowboys, they are obviously used to thinking on their feet while facing very difficult tasks. Cord shared that when he had his skull crushed by a kick from a horse, Jet stood by him during his long recovery. It is obvious they are very close, and they work very well together. Neither cowboy wastes time complaining, and Cord especially finds ingenious solutions to problems. They are personable, funny and good-humored, but smart. They pay attention to the clues, which has saved them a lot of time. They have come in first many times already, and there is a very good possibility that the cowboys will out-smart the other teams when it counts.

All three teams work very well together, support each other, with occasional lapses from Brent and Caite, and accomplish their tasks with the minimal amount of fuss. While I am rooting for the cowboys, this last episode of The Amazing Race, airing on CBS at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 9th, is anybody's game, and whichever Amazing Race team wins will have earned the money through perseverance and hard work.

After homeschooling our three sons from K-12, I began doing more of the writing I love, with some success. The success I'm proudest of, though, is the more than 30 years of happy marriage I am enjoying with...  View profile
