After landing in Seychelles the teams had to grab a number, the first three would leave via helicopter first while the bottom three would leave via helicopter an hour later. The first three teams leading, with the lead, were Brent/Caite, Allie/Steve and Dan/Jordan. After arriving at the next island, even more remote then the one they landed on, the teams were thrown right into their Detour. The tasks this round were much more interesting then any in the past and they caused tons of screw ups and drama that will last the entire race. These are the tasks that work and these are the tasks that should be done EVERY leg. Ok so back to the Detour: they could either choose a 100 year old turtle to run through a course and carry bananas over a mile or throw coconuts into a wagon and have it pulled by an ox.
Brent and Caite arrived first and quickly threw all of their coconuts into the wagon. Well all but one coconut.... while they did that Allie and Steve lured the turtle down the lawn with a banana and we finally got to see the two in a new light, well actually we got to see them at all for once is a surprise. They finished quickly and passed Brent/Caite who were on the ox, bickering as usual. The brother arrived third and seemed behind the other two but with Brent/Caite missing a coconut they had to return to the start and they were NOT happy about that. Brent threatened to quit but didn't as the two hopped on their ox wagon and sulked the entire way back to the Detour. That left Allie/Steve and Dan/Jordan to pass them and they were off to the Road Block.
Oh before we get there.... after boarding the boat to the Road Block, Allie and Steve realized they forgot their backpacks at the turtle task. Steve wasn't upset at all as they had all their important stuff with them while Allie was a bit annoyed that she lost her makeup and had to live in a banana smushed shirt. She'll at least get to clean it I'm sure. For the Road Block one member had to dive down and grab a bottle floating in the ocean. After doing so they would return to shore, put together a map to the Pit Stop and check in with Phil. Steve performed well and quickly returned to the boat, sending Steve and Allie into first place and finally on to our screens while the brothers finished in second.
That left everyone else still moving their ox/coconuts or luring the turtle. As the next batch of people arrived Brent/Caite were still heading back to Detour. Louie/Michael and Carol/Brandy arrived next and did two different tasks. Louie/Michael pushed through the coconut/ox Detour really quickly and were off to Road Block while Carol/Brandy struggled to get their turtle to go down the lawn so they switched to the ox task. Problem was, the Cowboys had already arrived and were off with the ox while Brandy/Carol just began. Cowboys also lost a coconut so after Louie/Michael and Caite/Brent (finally) got their next clue, the Cowboys and Brandy/Carol had to return to the Detour to retrieve a missing coconut. It was fun to see people screw up over such a simple task and it's about time a task was difficult enough for someone to do so.
Louie/Michael got passed by Brent/Caite, thanks to their fast boat, so they checked in after doing the Road Block so it was down to either the Cowboys or Carol/Brandy going home. Carol and Brandy were pretty far behind but the Cowboys forgot their bottle from the Road Block on the boat, forcing them to head to Phil then return to the boat to get the bottle. Carol and Brandy used that to their advantage and checked in just before the guys returned to their boat. Luckily for the Cowboys, and my new favorite team, it was time or yet another non-elimination leg. So they will live to race another day, not sure how long though but then again they are at least close enough to the others that they can catch up.

Post a CommentI was surprised at how many teams made mistakes. I think Steve and Allie are going to run into trouble in the coming weeks by not having their backpacks. I was happy to see tonight was a non-elimination race.
