Amazon Kindle Product Review

Bill Smith
The Amazon Kindle just came out not too long ago, and has become a very popular device for many people all over the world. If you are not familiar with the Amazon Kindle, it was a produce introduced by Amazon that is like an electronic book. The Amazon Kindle is a new way in which we can read newspaper articles, blogs, and books buy purchasing them through Amazon and being able to read them on the Kindle. The Kindle is a wireless little hand-held device that allows people to download over 100,000 electronic books for a small fee as well as provides an opportunity for people to listen to music and have web browsing capabilities. If you are on the road and travel a lot or are looking for a new way to read blogs, newspapers, and books in an electronic format then you might consider buying the Amazon Kindle.

The Kindle is not like an I-Pod or anything, meaning that it has limited capabilities and does not allow for game play or advanced color graphics or features. The Kindle is really a new and simple device that has a wireless connection and allows the many people listen to and read their books electronically. The Amazon Kindle can be found on the Amazon Kindle Store section of Amazon. The prices range from 299 dollars up to almost 500 dollars depending on whether you want the Kindle or the Kindle DX. The regular Kindle holds up to 1,500 books whereas the DX can hold 3,500 books and also with the regular Kindle you have PDF formats via conversion and the DX has a built in PDF reader along with a rotating display. Otherwise both of them have similar features such as 3G wireless, 60 second book download time, text to speech, and whisper-speak. You can get most newly released books for the Kindle on the Amazon website for fewer than 10 dollars, while the paperback older books will cost you 4 to 9 dollars. So price wise, the books for the Kindle are pretty cheap, although the 5 dollars per book will add up over time.

The Kindle has a 6 inch electronic paper display at a 600x800 screen resolution at a 16-level gray scale. The dimensions of the Kindle are 8" x 5.3" x .36" and weighs around 10.2 ounces. Since the Kindle does not run or need to be supported by a computer there are no requirements for your computer. The Kindle has a 2G internal disk space, with about 1.4G of that being for your content. If you have the wireless enabled on the Kindle, you can keep reading for up to 4 days. Based on what you do with the wireless signal, like download electronic books in the Kindle shop, or are in a lower-signal wireless area, then you will end up eating more battery life. So the Kindle can last up to the 4 days but that is merely reading the books, not taking in to account what you are up to on the wireless signal. The Kindle can be charged fully in 4 hours, and can also be charged up using a USB port on your computer. There is a 3.5mm stereo audio jack with rear mounted speakers, and the Kindle also comes with a 1-year limited warranty with an optional 2-year warranty purchase option.

So all in all the Kindle is becoming a new way to read books whether at home or on the go, since it is small there is no need to tote around books when you are out. The Kindle comes with all instructions and manuals to get you started on what you need and how you go about downloading from the Kindle Store on Amazon. Since the Kindle has not been out that long, 115,000 books are sure to grow into more reading materials through the next year. The only bad thing about the Kindle would be that the books can be limited and you might not find what you are looking for, and also the 3G wireless that is available through Sprint and their high-speed network might not be available in all areas. Otherwise, I have no negative things to say about the Kindle, the battery life is good and it comes with the charger for the USB port in your computer, a rechargeable battery and also the regular power charger. You can also purchase a book cover for your Kindle on Amazon, so that your Kindle is protected from the environment and elements which makes the Kindle even better and more like a book. Along with the book cover, Amazon has a lot of different accessories that you can get for your Kindle in their accessory department. So whether you are an avid reader of books, blogs, magazines, or newspapers the Kindle might just be a fit for you, and depending on which size and model you want, you can end up with a large collection of reading materials for those cold winter days ahead. I would suggest the Kindle for college students, high school students, stay at home parents, or business travelers who are always on the road or traveling by air or bus. The Kindle will make sure you are never bored again, and if you have reading assignments you need to do for a class, the Kindle will surely make your life easier because you can just download that book and take your Kindle with you wherever you go.
