The Constitution of the United States was formed after the colonies escaped the unfair tyranny of King George. In the summer of 1787, the founding fathers set the guidelines of the American government; putting forth checks and balances so no specific area of the government (Presidential, Congress, and Supreme Court) had too much power. These guidelines gave our new nation a sense of peace knowing that the sophomoric government would not rule over them in the same manner of England's monarchy. The Founding Fathers went through great lengths in defining the Constitution to ensure that absolute power did not corrupt and destroy America. More importantly, the Bill of Rights was later added to the constitution; it lists the rights of citizens that the government can't take away, and guarantees American citizens the right to free speech and the ability to practice religion. Unfortunately, these unique standards of our nation appear to be in danger.
Since when is wrong to be proud that the country that you are living in is the current super power of the world? Since when is it wrong to practice free speech? There are those who wish to make citizens feel guilty for cherishing the United States, the Constitution, and all the liberty and freedom that it stands for. Americans do not need the government vilifying or intimating those who speak out against elected officials who hold power. The government needs to remember that they get "their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed." (The Declaration of Independence) Corruption is rampant at every level of our government. If it isn't lobbyist promoting their sly agenda to elected officials, it's the elected officials accepting bribes from the special interest groups. Undoubtedly, the governing tactics and laws from congress have formed a deep fracture throughout America. Do you think America can survive this self-inflicted wound? Our nation needs to pray and repent in order for it to survive. The Lord revealed, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)
What will be born of the deep schism within the country? I wish to share with you the story of Nathaniel Gwynne. Three years into the American Civil War, Nathaniel was an adolescent too young to serve in the war. However, during a battle in Petersburg, Virginia, confederate soldiers managed to steal the Union flag. Nathaniel chased down the confederate soldiers, got shot twice, and still managed to return the future flag of the United States to his comrades. I ask you, where is that passion for our country today? Now days, some would be willing to sell the American flag...even our nation for a quick buck. Who will lead the rally to defend the Constitution of the United States of America? It's time to wake-up America! There is no dispute that the heritage of liberty and freedom in this once great nation is quickly disappearing. It's humbling to watch Americans slowly lose their personal connection to being part of this nation. Can you blame them?
