America Has a Personality Problem

America has a personality problem. We've metastasized from an insular, selfish '˜me' society to a needy, attention grubbing '˜look at me' population. Yes, millions of good, hardworking and humble folks endure the daily spectacle of rude, stupid self promotion easily available and mostly unavoidable due to the intrusive nature of modern media, social networking and the videosphere (you tube).

A moron in Florida wants to burn some holy books and becomes the story of the week, Lady Gaga overdresses, makes noises and struts around in front of the camera and she becomes an entertainment phenomena, tweens cream their jeans over a squeaky hobbit called Justin Beiber and a tomfool like Glen Beck gets a an audience of thousands to descend on Washington D.C. for a pointless display of mock patriotism.

For months I wondered about the tea party, "What are these people so worked up about?" Now I've figured that they are a legitimate third party that I prefer to call '˜The Ugly Americans.' The official banner should read, "Fat, lazy and stupid and we want more of it." The uninformed, ignorant, rude and mean Americans have the right to representation. I just have trouble believing in the existence of this plethora of idiots and the amount of attention they garner. Have we lost the ability to pay them no mind. Some things are not worthy of attention.

After seeing the auto companies and banks being rewarded for their failures and bad behavior some figured they could finagle a buyout by emulating corporate rudeness and greed. I want my pointless cubicle job back, I don't want to pay any taxes, I want all the amenities and entitlements without participating in the process. Feed my dog, fill my tank, line my pockets, return my youth and lavish me with love. I'm so damn mad. Everyone go to hell except me and those like me.
