America Look What You Did

In a bold display of resistance and unwillingness to work with President Obama, John Boehner and Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell turned down the president's invitation to a working dinner at The White House on Thursday (November 17) sighting schedule conflicts as their reasoning.

I have not held elected office and I certainly have not served in the Congress of the nation but even I know that you do not turn down an invitation to the White House.....for ANY reason.

Washington insiders and those acquainted with political decorum in the nation's capital know that an invitation to the White House is a mandatory show up. And Mr. Boehner and Mr. McConnell are well of aware of the political protocal in Washington.

This is but yet another episode in the saga of Republicans' agenda to resist, obstruct. Hinder and not co-operate with the Democratic Party or the President of the United States.

And American voters are responsible for this and the upcoming mess to follow.

From day one of President Obama's presidency, Republican lawmakers in Washington have gone out of their way to keep President Obama from gaining any legislative traction.

They have used every tactic available to them from filibustering to simply not showing up to vote in order to derail and render ineffective the presidency of Mr. Obama.

It is understandable that Americans were frustrated with their perceived progress of President Obama's administration to pull the country out of it's recession and get the economy functioning once again.

There probably was a need to send the president a message that he would recognize as a show of displeasure from the American people but giving control of the House of Representatives back over to Republicans probably was too strong of a message.

And unfortunately, it is one we will have the unpleasantness of living through for a least another two years.

I hope we can stand up under the pressure.
