Next Super Power China or India?

jayanti raman
With the economic recession and President Obama taking the chair, the future of America losing its super power seems likely . Putting emphasis on military might, and policing the world has lead America slipped in its economic. On the contrary both China and India concentrated their efforts in competition and growing presence in world market has emerged as future super powers. A dismal economy coupled with mounting federal debt and expected cuts to science and technology spending threaten to unseat the United States as the reigning superpower of the world.

China and India
In a survey released in June, the Pew Research Center reported that citizens in many countries think the shift has already occurred:
"Most of those surveyed in Germany, Spain, France, Britain and Australia think China either has already replaced the U.S.

The world highest populalated country China and world biggest democratic and second high populated country India have given efforts in Industrial growth and come out as most competitive prices in world market caused to take major shares. Both developing and growing countries presence being felt world wide. In consumer goods china's presence and its competition has swept the world market. Inspite of world recession Chinese economy is going strong. Both China and India had theirs efforts in education, industrial growth, and strong infrastructural development and created such an atmosphere where their industries had to sustain competition as well as able to produce product of world standard. Their relentless efforts in development of science and technology were able to get sea change in R&D. As a result theirs products swept the world market. Both the countries because of their population advantage , get low cost workers and thus able to sustain their competition. China always had ambitious plans in space and nuclear development. They strategic ties with their allies has resulted in better understanding and economic development.

India too was never left behind in their space and nuclear technology. India always looked Russia has their strong allies, but recent times put extra efforts in its relationship development with America. India because of its strong education background emerged as world strongest work force in IT sectors. It's foreign policy and strong industrial development has steadily lead to its economic development.

All the above have made both China and India emerge as future super powers. I am sure by next decade we can see a new super power in world.

Brazil
Less-often cited potential powerhouses like Brazil, which recently determined it has loads of untapped oil in offshore deposits (the Associated Press this week said the country will be an "oil superpower") will become more prominent on the increasingly shared world stage

World option
"The USA will lose its superpower status in the global financial system," Germany's Social-Democrat Finance Minister Peer Steinbrueck said recently. "The world financial systecomes to power, perceptions are important, too.

The German magazine Der Spiegel summed up a growing European sentiment in a commentary last week:

"The banking crisis in the United States has shaken many things in recent days, not just the chancellor's
The situation will only worsen, Carnegie Endowment Visiting Scholar David Rothkopf wrote Sunday in The Washington Post: "Already this crisis has seen not just our enemies but even some of our closest allies wondering whether we are at the beginning of the end of both American-style capitalism and of American supremacy is becoming multi-polar."

Obama

Obama has a gigantic task in hand to reinstate American economy, bring both education as well as health care as top most priority in the policies. Put stating emphasis on education, science and reduce its military presence in Gulf and other parts of world. Put constructive efforts in bringing American economy back in track.

Restructure its relationship with its allies and further strengthen relationship with Russia. Bring back American pride and damaged image world wide.

The U.S. has made itself "the office of the world," sending all its work overseas. God forbid if China takes over!

Interesting article, Jayanti. There are those who predicted that first the Soviet Union would fail, and then the U.S. Certainly, the global picture is changing. Personally, I would like to think that eventually there will emerge a networking of peoples from all corners of the globe who produce value for self, and others, and are able to improve their personal lives in the process.
