They don't know how to create their own advantages or they don't have the hope that thing can be better. They just stay in their own desperate situation not trying to change. Sometimes a situation seems so desperate there seems to be no help. People can become lost to addictions. They need alcohol ,drugs, gambling, or cigarettes to make it through the day. They don't want to deal with the reality of their situation, so they stay high and numb. And then, their lives and problems become worse because of the addictions. Then they end up in jail and then it cost the taxpayers money to house them and take care of them. It's a vicious cycle of events that happens over and over again.
People become lost in the system, because they are poor. They don't know how or have the desire to make a change. They feel like all their hope is gone and there's no chance for them to change and make a better life for themselves. Every one needs to have hope and faith in order to survive. You have to believe there is going to be a better day. The social system we have to help these people is not an answer. The more children you have the more benifits you recieve. So now we have people how just have children and live off the welfare system. Taking money from the poor and disabled. The ones who really need help. I suffer from a mental illness, which I can control with medication. I am not elligable for any government aid.
I can't work with out being medicated and I can't buy my medicine because I don't have a job. The welfare program has not offered me any assistance with child care so I can get a job. See the circle and how it goes around and around. Fortunatly I am wise enoght to be able to make a little money so I can survive. I have to because I know the US Government is not going to help me. Yet there are foreign familys that live here in America that have their own business (tax free for 8 years), a new Lexus, their own house, and they recieve 1000.00 dollars in food stamps a month to feed there five children. If your an American living in America you need to get a job so we can support these people so they can become american too. If your poor in America put your faith in God because that is all the real hope you'll ever have.

Post a CommentWe are all being conned by the system. Here in England the political system is such that anyone can apply to be an MP, campaign and get voted in. The reality is the political system is run by career politicians many of whom are millionaires ( the government front bench has many, Cameron being one)
Likewise in USA where anyone can rise to the top as promised in the American Dream. Now look at the reality. Only millionaire politicians can apply as the system is loaded against the ordinary citizen. We are Plebians, who by definition have nothing to give but our labour and the labour of our children. We are not so much an asset as a comodity. Our welfare does not concern those in high places as they have never been where we are and have no understanding. The poor are an inconvenience and will continue to be overlooked and this is USA & UK so what hope is there?
You could never understand what it's like to be poor, unless you were or are poor. I am a poor guy in a small town, which is a very rough situation. I can't walk to the store and back without someone hollering obscenities at me and occasionally throwing things at me. My parents were really trashy and didn't really care about me. Everyone in town knows I live in a piece of shit run down trailer, and in a world where perception is everything, it's needless to say I don't get treated fair or given many opportunities. People can say and do whatever they want to you when you're poor. Rumors spread fast in a small town and people here believe whatever embarrassing thing about you if you're not one of the well connected.
Everyone knows everybody, so you can't escape it. You'll always be the but of everyone's jokes, no matter how good of a person you are. Only the destitute know the true nature of mankind and that sad realization is what keeps most of
They cross over the river I guess because they have a government that doesn't care about them. But this population explosion will cause, and already has caused crime to skyrocket. Maybe I'm not right about this but I think I'm right. Nobody seems to care. I feel badly for the Mexican people but I think fellow Americans should get the opportunities first. The government never built a wall; the government hasn't done much of anything these past years. And poor people suffer even more. This problem will effect you well to do people also. Do you care about crime levels? You can't move whereever you want; you have to worry about crime.
Well with welfare reform I don't think people who keep having kids get more welfare per kid like they did in past years. There are more help programs for people with kids then for single adults. Poor folks need to believe in God for hope but the ? is how do we know God is there. And if he is; he's not helping anybody that I see. A person has to rely on themselves. There's a big dilemma with illegals coming into this country and people who don't speak English can somehow get government checks & a medicaid card. Plus they are doing better then poor Blacks and Whites; they have cars and money. As a result there's not enough jobs to go around so crime climbs higher. Crime statistics in the southern states is 7, 8, 9 out of 10 (10 being the highest). There's fewer jobs for poor Whites and Blacks because all the Mexicans get the jobs. I live in a neighborhood where there are hundreds, maybe 1000,s of Mexicans who don't speak English but most have jobs and cars. They cross over
This is BULLSHIT! You can't assume what the poor think if you've never been poor, assface. Maybe we should just have all the homeless people secretly killed to improve the economy (I mean, they're such a nuisance, right? Dick)
Good article, especially how you captured the "vicious cycle" process of one thing leading to another and a feeling of hopelessness. The best way to help is to offer people opportunities to help themselves, rather than just giving a handout. That's why a group like Habitat for Humanity is so cool. They let people earn homes for themselves by helping build, and the people can get an affordable mortgage. If there is an opportunity, there will be hope.
excellent article on an important topic!
Not all poor people have lost hope. Some, like myself, struggle and struggle to make ends meet. I was unemployed for 2 months. The last job I had for five years. I couldn't get unemployment, I couldn't get my medicines, or food. I am still poor and I still struggle every week. But I haven't given up hope, I've just given up on the government.
Anybody can befall unfortunate circumstances & become poor. You can lose your job & when it's not easy for you to find another job, you can get poor quickly. The problems are 1) Manufacturing jobs being outsourced. 2) Large numbers of Mexicans coming into the country getting most of the jobs in agriculture. 3) Employers seem to be getting 'pickier' than they used to be with regards to hiring people due to there being too many unemployed people per job opening. 4) If Bush cared as much about conditions here as he cares about Israel & the Middle East, maybe there would be something done to alleviate the problem of anybody being unable to get employed within a few days of starting the search for employment. Slap an import tax on cheap foreign imports to help unemployed Americans instead of just letting people suffer such poverty.
How can you create a article judging the poor when you probly never experienced things that they go through. Just today a woman came into my sister job, KFC, starving and begging for food. According to my sister, she said, "Please, give me anything...anything you have". To my surprise this was a white woman that looked as if she wasnt on drugs or had any type of addictions. Its amusing how when rich people think of poor, they think its because of drug addiction or a black person.
