America Reacts to the MTV Movie Awards - 'Twilight Saga' Wins

Tamara McRill
The 2011 MTV Movie Awards aired Sunday night with plenty of "Twilight" antics and star groping. The best hands-on moments were courtesy of Justin Timberlake/Mila Kunis and Robert Pattinson/Taylor Lautner. My favorite part was 'Eclipse' sweeping the awards, winning five golden popcorn buckets, and grooving to the Foo Fighters performance. I turned to social media to ask my friends, followers, and fellow watchers what they loved and hated about this year's awards show.

"'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' is a personal favorite, so I was really glad to see the movie take home so many awards. James Franco should have won an award for Best Jaw Dropping Moment. Justin Bieber's movie (if that's what you want to call it) was nowhere near the caliber of other movies nominated. The award for Best Movie went to the right movie and I think we'll see it go to the Twilight franchise next year. Robert Pattinson grabbing Kristen Stewart by the hand and telling her he's taking her backstage was priceless. I also enjoyed Reese Witherspoon's acceptance speech when she said you don't have to have a reality show to make it in Hollywood or the little jab at Blake Lively about covering your face when taking nude photos of yourself. Priceless!" -- Kenzy England, 42, Bonham, Texas

"As an avid movie goer, I'm dismayed by the spectacle that is now MTV and their awards show. When did they lose their grip on being cutting edge and a music platform to become the McD's of television? The movie awards were a wet dream to a tween in the same way it was a nails on a chalk board punishment to the rest of humanity." -- Pedro L. Rodriguez (@plrodriguez), 27, NYC, New York

"Reese Witherspoon gets 'life time achievement'?! Thank God @chelseahandler is giving it... ain't she a bit young for a celebrate your career box of popcorn?!" "Patrick Dempsey is so uncomfortable in the clothes his stylist borrowed from Justin Bieber." -- Naomi Leonard (@NaomiNeeds), Los Angeles, California

"I watched the MTV Movie Awards this year, although I don't usually watch it. I wanted to see the sneak peeks to the new films. I was glad Ellen Page won Best Scared-as-S**t and that Alexys Nycole Sanchez won Best Line. Personally, I feel that 'Inception' should have won for best movie. I know these things are controlled by Twihards. There are definitely better movies that could have been nominated for Best Movie, but the MTV Movie Awards is about 'popcorn theater,' so I understand their selections. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart accepting their award for Best Kiss was was staged. I can't imagine anyone actually believing them." -- Renata Yvonne (@RenataYvonne), 25, New York, New York

"As much as I'm happy to see anything 'Twilight' win awards, a tiny part of me is looking forward to seeing other movies win. After next year, that is! The Bieber movie winning Best Jaw Dropping Moment... umm... why? Didn't understand that one bit and I saw the movie." -- Bobby Lauer, 28, Kansas City, Kansas

"I did watch this year, and have watched ever since I was about 13 or 14. What usually draws me in is seeing movies get recognition that you don't normally see nominated during 'awards season'. I'm happy with a few of the winners, but I'm sick of seeing Twilight win in every single category it's nominated in. I understand that it's a huge deal right now, but come on. I mean, really, how could they beat Inception for Best Fight? Emma Stone's speech was great as was Reese Witherspoon's. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were painful to watch. Though Robert's f-bomb that skirted the censors was pretty funny, even if his joke flopped." -- Melanie (@iwannabapirate), 22, Stamford, CT

"The Robert Pattinson/Taylor Lautner kiss wasn't as hot as Madonna and Britney, but more believable in reality than Pattinson and Kristen Stewart." -- Sean Douglas, 25, California
