America Sends Most Lovable Contestant Home on 'Dancing with the Stars'

COMMENTARY | Last night on "Dancing With the Stars," Chaz Bono outlasted another crowd favorite, as fashion icon Carson Kressley took his final bows.

The results show began with a medley of Madonna hits accompanied by dancers Val Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd.

Ricki Lake was declared safe while Hope Solo was in jeopardy. There was no way America was sending Hope home. The network probably placed her in jeopardy in order to motivate people to vote for her.

Kelly Clarkson performed her hit "Mr. Know It All." She also expressed admiration for pro dancers Tristan McManus and Kym Johnson. She wished she could dance that way. Tom Bergeron pointed out that the show could teach her.

I actually like the idea of Kelly appearing on "DWTS." We'd get to see more of her fun bubbly personality. She'd also have a chance to silence her weight critics once and for all. Like Kirstie Alley and Ricki Lake, people would be rooting for her to succeed.

We later saw a montage of Charm Ladonna, who had worked her way out of Compton to become a professional dancer. She performed a Krump routine with Derek Hough and Mark Ballas.

"The Band Perry" performed their hit "If I Die Young," accompanied by dancers Karina Smirnoff and Louis van Amstel.

Rob Kardashian and J.R. Martinez were declared safe while David Arquette remained in jeopardy.

After Kelly performed "Walk Away," Chaz Bono was declared safe. It was an awkward moment when we heard a smattering of boos. Nancy Grace was also safe, despite an unmemorable performance. I have the feeling that people are voting for Tristan rather than Nancy.

Carson Kressley, Hope, and David were in jeopardy. David was declared safe, as his strong performance and hilarious impressions of Len endeared him to the audience.

The hammer ended up falling on Carson, and the audience was not happy. Of course, as Len would say, "you can't moan if you don't phone."

Carson was not the world's greatest dancer, but he didn't deserve to go home before Chaz. Although Chaz improved this week, his performances as a whole have been dull and lackluster. Yet like Bristol Palin, Chaz has a well-oiled political voting machine.

I'm going to miss his outrageous personality, bold sense of style, and self-effacing humor.
