America Tortures Canadian Child

The United States captured a Canadian child when he was 15 years old on the battle fields of Afghanistan and has held him in Guantanamo Bay since 2002; the thugs of Gitmo have been torturing Omar Kadr and refusing to release him even after the American courts have refused to hear his case based on an absence of legal jurisdiction.

A highly respected Canadian war hero and senator, Romeo Dallaire is demanding today that our cowardly and unethical conservative minority government step up and demand Kadr be released into our nations custody.

Dallaire says the current conservatives show a lack of commitment to human rights and are abandoning Canadian citizens in an effort to appease America's tyrannical global wars.

Kadr's late father is alleged to have had terrorist ties and is believed to be responsible for turning his son into a soldier; apparently the 'civilized' Americans want the son to pay for his fathers crimes.

Kadr is alleged to have thrown a grenade that killed an American soldier during a battle but, Americans and their soldiers are proven liars and can not be believed however, if there is evidence of such crimes then hand it over to the Canadian authorities and allow them to try him in our courts.

International law permits the killing of soldiers during war time, they are legitimate targets therefore the killing of the American occupying murderer is legal and moral.

International and Human Rights laws protect child soldiers from prosecution because they're vulnerable victims of adults who lie, force and coerce children into becoming soldiers; these laws are honoured everywhere but within the United States government.

Release Khadr to Canadian authorities and I demand that the Canadian government file charges in international court against the criminal American government and nation who sits idly by while their representatives capture, illegally imprison and torture children.

Sorry to be so late to the debate here. It's pointless to address your angry personal attacks on me. I do well know the difference between the Taliban and a nation state. My comment regarding a fifteen year old with a grenade is to the specific. When faced with that situation, what would you do? Talk to him? Or suppose he was preparing to toss it towards your own family? In case you have missed the evolution of warfare in the last 70 years, soldiers don't always wear uniforms and come in every age and sex. I won't even try to talk to you about your ignorance of the Palestine Israel situation and "ethnic" cleansing. Jews, which you appear to loathe (talk about racism) have always lived in Palestine and the region. It is easy for a person to sit thousands of miles away and comment. Go look at what has become of the region since the return of the lands. I've seen it. Have you?

Well, RJT, good luck in your demands to the Canadian government. . We here at AC are paying rapt attention, and will lobby the Canadian government on your behalf. Of course, I don't think you can believe me since you think that "Americans and their soldiers are proven liars". I do agree with you, Khadr shouldn't be at Gitmo. A fifteen year old with a grenade should be shot dead. Of course, too, we know that the Taliban in Afghanistan are closely following International and Human Rights laws, as are their fellow travelers in Iraq, Iran and Palestine.
