American Automobile Motorist Are Driving TOO Fast Causing More Accidents Each Year!

Phillip W. Chambley
A speeding cell phone driver is distracted within three seconds of a crash in 80 percent of all car accidents, according to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If your driving over 20 mph faster than the highway speed limit, you may only have (1) one second to react to a possible fatal automobile accident, especially on the U.S.A. interstates.

Drivers are simply driving TOO fast here in America, talking on their cell phones and at times even have the nerve to use their laptop computers while in route to their final destination, which could possibly be a 6ft. graveside, if they can't learn to be more cautious with their daily driving habits. Personally, I believe the laws should be the same for "fast drivers causing accidents" as a D.U.I. in any state here in the U.S.A.

In other words, "Speeding and Causing an accident" as observed by driver witnesses. This first offense should be the same as a DUI in any state. "These people are potential killers" Unfortunately, police officers are NOT always their to actually view the original scene of an automobile accident of how it happened to begin with, unlike a DUI arrest? Ironically, these fast driving motorist are causing more problems on our highways than any other careless driving incidents.

One careless speeding fatal crash I distinctly remember here in Atlanta, Ga., which truly happened back in the early 1990's. A motorist and his wife were talking on their "huge" cell phones driving down interstate highway 285 at the same time in separate vehicles. The two motorist were approximately 12 miles apart from each other on this busy Atlanta circular interstate on a busy Friday afternoon during "rush hour" traffic after 5:00 p.m..

As told later on in interviews by local driver witnesses of this accident, the wife was apparently trying to find a place in her vehicle to simply put this oversize newly marketed 1990's cell phone? Constantly looking down at the console and still speeding and also weaving in and out of traffic. Showing NO effort whatsoever to slow down because she had an appointment to make that evening with a real estate client. (Fortunately nowadays we have headphones).

I still remember to this day how hot it was that month in August. I don't remember the exact year? However, I personally was on Atlanta's 285 interstate at the same time of this horrible and ironic fatal automobile crash. I just remember the DJ on this local Atlanta radio station talking about this "weird automobile accident?" that took place earlier that day on Atlanta's interstate 285, and was later on telling listeners that night over the local news mystically in a calm voice, just how "weird" this auto accident was?

Apparently, these (2) two professional Atlanta business motorist had just hung up talking on these enormous cell phones from a ten minute conversation while speeding and weaving in and out down highway 285 in this "Stop and Go" traffic. The husband suddenly heard over the radio traffic report that there had been a fatal crash involving 2 vehicles, approximately 12 miles from his location on interstate 285 because all traffic had suddenly stopped dead still and was not moving.

The husband tried over and over to call his wife on his cell phone, whom he thought was still on this interstate 285? She NEVER answered? At this time, he then became worried, and thought that something may have happened to his lifelong loved wife of 22 years. He gradually eased closer and closer on Atlanta's interstate 285 heading east in the far right hand lane close to Stone Mountain that was only open at the time of this hot August Friday afternoon traffic.

This professional Atlanta business man and devoted husband continued to try over and over and over again to call his wife on their cell phones with NO answer? as he slowly eased through this tiring hot Atlanta August traffic. He finally reached the point of this horrible and fatal crash watching the paramedics place a mutilated female body onto the stretcher out of the left side of his vehicle. (This was a horrible scene for any motorist to witness at anytime).

He suddenly realized "This is my wife's car!" Slammed on his brakes, turned left, and proceeded to the accident scene, got out of his car and started screaming his wife's name out loud trying to hold her, watching the paramedics place her body pieces into the ambulance. The police and paramedics had absolutely NO idea what was going with this man wearing a professional suit and tie? This poor, helpless, loving, caring and innocent man could NOT believe his eyes of what he was honestly seeing of his wife's lifeless torn to pieces body?

Naturally, the paramedics didn't understand because this was so unusual of any accident scene for a loved one to arrive and see immediately after a fatal auto accident. The local Gwinnet County police tried to keep him away from the scene, and then realized he was telling the truth regarding his frantic actions on this late hot afternoon 285 Atlanta auto accident. "This loving husband screamed and cried at the top of his lungs". Which he will remember for the rest of his life if he lived later on in the process of this horrible automobile accident.

Apparently, his wife kept speeding in and out of these (5) five lanes of traffic. The vehicle in front of her moved to the right, not realizing the traffic was stopped "Dead Still" slamming into the vehicle in front of her at approximately 80 mph. Her vehicle and the vehicle in front was both completely destroyed, thus causing a deadly fatal impact of both their lives, simply because she was speeding and in too much of a hurry professional life and career.

For most American drivers, this incident or automobile accident only happens in a dream? Unless American motorist seem to realize the danger of driving TOO fast and talking on their cell phones. This horrible accident will become a continous reality in life for everyone. People have got to simply stop and "Think about their driving and slow down?" And also be more responsible in their driving habits. If you kill someone because of your fast driving, it 's too late in life.
