The American Blue Gascon Hound is not a new species, and has actually been around for quite some time now. One of their original breeders was a man named Oliver O. Grant.
The American Blue Gascon Hound is also known as the "Big n' Blue" and the "Bluetick". They are known to be agile and well-balanced dogs that are wonderful in movements; they have swift movements, and great flexibility. They are lively, energetic, and have a lot of spirit in them, and prep; however, they do grow to be quite large, and can be hard to handle for some owners.
Generally speaking, the average American Blue Gascon Hound will grow to around 25 - 30 inches tall and will weigh anywhere from 70 to 110 pounds when they have reached maturity. They have thick, dense coat which helps them survive in different climates. They have white coats generally with heavy black ticking which gives them the appearance that they are blue. Generally, they also have irregular dark blue or black markings on them, and there are many different variations on the appearance of their coats and colors. One of the main features of the American Blue Gascon Hound is their appearance. They have bulky, muscular bodies that are very strong and powerful. Their tail is set high, and comes to a point.
There are some key points for those who wish to own an American Blue Gascon; for one, they need special attention to their ears. Their ears require cleaning in order to prevent infection, and to keep them healthy.
Also, the American Blue Gascon Hound really needs the exercise, and the ability to show off their hunting skills. Generally speaking, they do best in homes that do hunting. Most breeders are reluctant to sell them as pets only if the owners will not hunt with them.
