American Confidence is at an All-Time Low

American confidence is hurting. Maybe it is the media bombardment of bad news. But I have some good news. Despite global competition, no one can compete with us in innovation. We need to have confidence in America, because it is our Christian faith that makes this country strong. We might be hurting now, with high gas prices driving inflation, and bad stock performance. But if we continue to work hard, we can come around, even in these hard times.

So many so called experts are really pessimists. But whether you agree that global warming is a scam or not, global competition for resources will make the greening of America, become a good thing. We can learn to recycle things like plastic bags and card board to make new building materials. We can take old plastic bottles, melt them down and make wind mills out of them.

The reason we don't have more people using alternative energy, is not because people don't want it. Its because it costs $10,000 to build a wind mill. Most people can't afford it. And it is usually too unreliable. Most people can't afford Cadillacs. That's why Toyota's are so popular. And that's why most people don't do more to conserve resources. Because its too expensive.

There are many things to innovate. People spend tons on their image. Look how much ends up in a dumpster. But some people sell altered fashions now, or do it themselves for their own enjoyment. You can get used clothing for free even and then alter them to make cool fashions and help recycle.
Other places for innovation include supporting local artists and performers. You can get a lot of cheap entertainment at open mic and other events that are sometimes even free. You might even help discover a fresh talent.

So all is not lost for America, we still have what it takes and we can innovate like no one else. And all of the best in math and science come here for jobs still. So even though some people will turn to drugs to dull the pain of a dwindling stock market, if you keep a sharp eye for trends and are ahead of the curve, you can still make it. You can even take a losing proposition and turn it around, like one entrepreneur did in Gainesville Florida. He took a health club and made it respectable and even got a Gold level fitness rating for Gainesville, while the best most cities do is bronze.

There is still opportunity out there. You need to stay positive, work extra hard, and be a good marketer. And having the Christian principles wouldn't hurt either.
