The Academy of Country Music has announced the 44th Annual Country Music Awards which will be televised live by Dick Clark Productions. The show will be broadcast from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 5, 2009 on CBS at 8 PM ET.
The week of the show is called "The Week Vegas Goes Country ®", which includes events such as the ACM New Artists' Show on Fremont Street, the 6th Annual ACM Celebrity Golf Classic, ACM Chairman's Ride, All Star Jam, and Divas Downtown on Fremont Street.

This new show is open to the public and free. The show held on two stages in downtown Las Vegas starts at 6:30 pm.

The Charity Motorcycle Ride is an invitation only event for industry VIPs and artists who participate in the scenic half day motorcycle ride through Nevada.

Reba McIntyre will host the awards ceremony of the 11th time, which is a record. The show is sold out but fans can still purchase VIP packages which includes tickets to the award show and to the also sold out ACM All-Star Jam. The show will be televised on CBS at 8 pm ET.
Artist of the Decade - George Strait, Monday, April 6, 2009
Once every decade an artist is picked as Artist of the Decade. This year the artist is George Strait. Industry stars will pay tribute to the "King of Country." Previous winners of this award include Marty Robbins (1969), Loretta Lynn (1979), Alabama (1988) and Garth Brooks (1998). Performers for this show will be announced at a later date. The show will air on CBS on a later date. Tickets benefit the ACMCF and are still available at this time.
