If you can sew a straight line, then you can make this American Girl doll sleeping bag craft!
To Make an American Girl Doll Craft You Will Need:
2 fabrics
Sewing Machine
Ruler
Thread
Scissors
20 inch zipper
To get started you want to cut out 2 rectangle of outer fabric to 18 inches tall and 10 inches wide. You will need two the same size, but have an interior fabric, like soft fleece.
You really can make this American Girl Doll Craft in any size you want, so you can customize this and make it fit your doll perfectly, be a little large, but not too small!
Now, lay out one exterior fabric panel face up on your table. Take your zipper and lay it face down on the long side of the fabric. Line the edges up.
***You want the ended of the zipper, where the zipper foot stops, to be at the top of the fabric. This will no be referred to as the top corner of the American Girl Doll sleeping bag from now on. This way the zipper does not come off every time you unzip the sleep bag in the future.
The bottom of the zipper can be trimmed later.
Take one of the interior fabrics and lay them on top, lining the up and creating a sandwich on the zipper. Sew this line down sewing as close to the zipper as you can.
Now, repeat this same step laying out the remaining exterior fabric face up. Top off with the other side of the zipper edge, then the interior fabric. Sew this down as well.
Now, fold your pile of fabric so that both exterior fabric are flat on the table, right see down, with the liners on top.
Fold all edged in and iron flat. Sew these shut with a 3/8s inch seam allowance.
Now, to complete the American Girl doll sleeping bag you want to fold the whole thing so that the right sides are together and the liners are facing out.
Sew along the long side and the bottom side, leaving the top open.
Turn this inside out and your American Girl Doll Sleeping bag is finished!
