The new American Gladiators are; Crush, Fury, Hellga, Justice, Mayhem, Militia, Siren, Stealth, Titan, TOA, Venom, and Wolf. The Gladiators look just as menacing and tough as they did in the original.
Many of the original events are still part of the show along with some new events which will prove to be just as enjoyable. For instance instead of falling onto a soft pad in Joust and Hang Tough, now you fall into water! Then there are events such as Powerball which haven't changed a bit.
Earthquake is one of the new events. Earthquake is a twist on one of the parts of an original event called Break Through and Conquer in which the contestant would try to force the Gladiator out of a circle. In Earthquake the premise is mostly the same except the platform is suspended in the air and moves. The goal is to get the Gladiator off the platform or at least stay on it. Hit and Run is another new event, at least for the American viewers. It was an event played in the British version of the show, but never seen in the US.
The personal "sob" stories are often used to much in shows like this, and weren't needed at all. Add to it the "injury" dramatics, this could all be left out. Lets just see the competitors and what they can do against the Gladiators!
Hulk Hogan was a great host! His energy and likability truly were a great match for this show. Laila Ali added a more soft touch to the show which fit in well.
What's enjoyable about watching this show is seeing so much of the original show in this new one. It brings many people back to a time when they were kids, and watched it together with their families. Now they are adults, with families of their owns and they are able to create that same memory with their children.
