American Health Choices Plan

Will it Benefit America?

Healthcare has become the main focus in the Hilary Clinton's campaign to become the democratic presidential nominee. She argues that health costs are a burden to the millions of Americans without health insurance. Her solution is her American Health Choices Plan. Clinton wants to provide universal coverage for all Americans regardless of income or any other determining factor. It is now up to the American Public to decide whether or not her health plan is beneficial. When evaluating Hilary Clinton's healthcare plan, one has to analyze the affects that it will have on society as a whole.

Universal health care sounds really good on paper, but can it be done? What will be the cost of Universal healthcare? Critics of Universal healthcare believe that it will be a detriment to the consumer. If healthcare is controlled by the government, then quality will decrease. Clinton believes her program will have the opposite effect. She argues that the quality will not decrease; it will simply become more available to all Americans. Her plans main goals are to make healthcare more affordable, reliable and accessible. This will benefit the millions of Americans who are without healthcare.

Clinton believes that providing healthcare should be a community effort. Companies, doctors, consumers, and the government have to all work together to lower the cost of the healthcare. It is not something that can be done solely by the government.

Why would someone be opposed to Hilary's plan? Big Business has the most to lose. Insurance companies would not make nearly as much money as they do now if healthcare is universal. They will no longer be able to discriminate against consumers either. Drug companies would also have to offer fair prices. They would not be able to rip off the American public any longer.

Minorities, including women, disabled individuals, Hispanics, and blacks, should definitely stand behind Hilary's program. They stand to benefit from it the most. A majority of the 47 million American without health coverage is comprised of these minorities. There really is no way in telling how beneficial the plan will be to the rest of Americans.

Overall, Clinton has good ideas, in terms of health care. She just needs to convey her thoughts on the issue in a way in which the American public will be willing to side with her. Her biggest obstacle with healthcare is not even her new plan; it is her old healthcare reform attempts in the mid 90's. Hopefully the next United States president will relieve the citizens of the United States of some of the burdens associated with healthcare. It should be available to everyone. There is no good moral reasoning to deny someone good healthcare.
