If you have seen the promotional ads for the new FX series American Horror Story, you were most likely intrigued by their creepiness. As a horror film and series fan, I was. I decided to dig deeper and discover what this series is all about. Here is what I found out.
American Horror Story is brought to us by two producers who are well known for their work on the hit series Glee. Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk seem to have their hands on the pulse of what is happening in television series entertainment. I immediately liked the concept of an American horror story type series and it made me very curious. The series is based on a family that moves from Boston to Los Angeles. They have had a rough time and it seems that times are getting rougher for them.
Meet the Harmons. The father, Ben, played by Dylan McDermott, of the Practice series fame, is a psychiatrist. His wife Vivien is played by Connie Britton. They have a teenage daughter, Violet, played by Taissa Farmiga. I was delighted to learn that Jessica Lange is in this series. She plays Constance, a neighbor of the Harmons. This series is set to have several guest stars in the roles of housekeepers. From what I hear, this series is all about murder, sexual torment and it can be pretty gory. Of course, in this day and age, that is what gets attention, it seems. But beyond all of that is a dark and twisted series that is mysterious. And creepy. I love creepy. I plan to give this series a chance. It promises to be chilling and I am betting that it will be. It airs in October, on the FX network.
I discovered that this is the first long running television series show that Jessica Lange has ever been in. I love her. She is a wonderful and talented actress. I am looking forward to seeing her in this series. It seems to fit her and I am hoping that this role will bring her lots of awards. The producers of this show are both award winning. They received Emmy recognition in the past and most likely will again. Maybe even for this series.
The three member family will embark upon their dark journey in the fall. An American Horror Story brings the black into the light. I can't wait. It is always thrilling to be scared in the dark. Hang on to your popcorn. This one promises to be a gruesome winner.
