American Idol 2010 Elimination April 28: Siobhan Magnus Voted Off; Top 5: Crystal, Lee, Aaron, Casey, Michael

American Idol 2010 Season 9. Wednesday, April 28, 2010. The judges are Randy Jackson, Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi, and Simon Cowell. The host is Ryan Seacrest. Tonight's guests are Rascal Flatts, Shakira, and Lady Antebellum. This week's mentor was Shania Twain.

Last night, Shania said of her music that she thought and wrote the songs- and that the Top 6 needed to interpret them as if they themselves had written them. They all did that, to varying degrees. Crystal Bowersox oddly achieved the least degree and also was the judges' least favorite performer- not enough to hurt her chance to make the finals. But Shania Twain's songs brought out the best in all of the Top 6. And Siobhan brought down the house with her finale performance. Yet, as Ryan said tonight while a camera panned the Top 6, "One of those six will be leaving."

Rascal Flatts kicked off the April 28 elimination night singing '(Love Is) Unstoppable'. The Top 6 Ford car ad put Michael Lynche in the driver's seat and the other five as vampires in the dark of night trying to attack him. He is saved by having a pizza with extra garlic in the car. Next up, the Top 6 put their voices to animated Shrek characters in the studio. which led to the Top 6 seeing a special screening of Shrek Forever After, in 3D- reported to be the last Shrek film ever, at The Grove Theaters in Los Angeles. Cameron Diaz (Shrek's Fiona) and Antonio Banderas (Shrek's Puss in Boots) appeared on the American Idol stage.

Elimination Time: Antonio said, "Dim the lights." He and Cameron left the stage. Ryan asked Siobhan Magnus to stand up and then sent her to right stage (audience left). He next asked Aaron Kelly to stand and then sent him to center stage. Michael Lynche was the next to stand up. He was sent to left stage Near Ryan. Ryan asked Lee DeWyze to stand. Ryan sent him to join Siobhan far (right) stage. Casey James was asked to stand up next. He was sent to stand next to Michael. Then, Ryan asked Crystal Bowersox stand up. Crystal joined Aaron center stage. So, there were three pairs: Siobhan & Lee; Michael & Casey; Aaron & Crystal.

Ryan separated the six into two groups: Aaron, Crystal, & Lee; Siobhan Michael, & Casey. He pretended Siobhan was safe and then told her as well as Michael and Casey that they were in the bottom three. This was Siobhan's first time there. Then Carrie Underwood's band, The Sons of Sylvia, performed 'Ohh, Watchya Waitin' For?'

Elimination Time: Ryan said, "Dim the lights." Standing with Siobhan, Michael, and Casey standing center stage, he pronounced Michael safe and sent him to join Crystal, Lee, and Aaron on the couch in the safety zone.

Lady Antebellum performed 'Need You Now'. Next, Rascal Flatts and Shakira performed her song 'Gypsy'.

Who will be eliminated? Ryan stood with Casey James and Siobhan Magnus. He told Siobhan Magnus that she would be going home. For her swan song, she performed Aretha Franklin's 'Freedom' and received a standing ovation. She then hugged each of her family members- and then each of the judges, starting with Simon. Randy told Siobhan that she has 'an amazing career ahead of her'. The studio audience was not happy with the results. Siobhan has been one of the most exciting and unpredictable performers of Season 9, which is now left with its Top 5 singers of four guys and one girl- Aaron Kelly, Casey James, Lee DeWyze, Michael Lynche, and Crystal Bowersox.
