American Idol 2010: Round Three: Who is Going Home from American Idol Tonight?
Who Got Voted Off American Idol and Who Will the Top 12 Be from Round Three This Week
So who made it into the top 12 and who are the four going out? Do you remember Scott McIntyre and Matt Giraud? They're back!
Tonight Ryan Seacrest opened the show as always introducing Randy Jackson, Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi, and Simon Cowell.
Then as promised during last night's show by Simon Cowell, if Alex made it to the next round, we would see Randy in a bikini. Ryan Seacrest flashed a photo-shopped body "Randy in a Bikini" to the crowd's delight. Did you think Alex was going to stay? It was a set up.
The American Idol contestants performed Michael Buble - Haven't Met you Yet" and the harmonies sounded awesome - perfectly blended with simple choregraphy. Mike Lynche's infectious love seemed to affect the American Idol Contestants as he reached out and touched his fellow singers with a bear hug or a friendly high five.
Next week the contestants will pick music from Rolling Stones collection and from here on out, the music will be available to be downloaded from I-tunes.
Didi Benami said "It's kind of scary to perform on this stage. I've never performed in front of this many people before." We can understand that Didi - the reality is not too many people have performed in front of that many people. American Idol ranks #1 on American television ratings even better than the Olympics. She stayed.
Siobhan Magnus who is unique was told, "Keep doing what you are doing:. She is staying. Paige Miles has a great recording voice but her song choices have been difficult. They both stayed.
Katlyn Epperly said, after being told she was leaving American Idol's stage, "It has been a great experience and I'm going to push forward." Katlyn did a much better job tonight without the keys and I wish she had done that the night before.
Tim Urban has taken the ideas from the judges. Todrick has been questioned as a believable singer but this past week was much better.
Unfortunately, Todrick Hall is going home. Todrick said, "I was really grateful to go out this weekend and hear from people who voted for me. Todrick went out with a bang and his singing was really fantastic.
Emotions started running high about mid-way through when the camera panned a shot of the girls still left standing; tearing up.
Matt Giraud and Scott McIntyre dueled on piano's singing Billy Joel's 'Tell her About It." Their voices complimented one another and the tune moved at a pretty clip. Scotty has a brand new album out called Heart Strings and it is all original. Number one single Ann Wilson, You don't know me, coming out on ITunes.
Lacey is staying too. She made it after trying last year and this was her last chance. Aaron said the judges intimidate him a bit, but he made it.
Ryan told Alex, "The judges loved your sound, and Ellen thinks you are a fully ripened banana". - that grew chuckles form the crowd. Andrew, rave reviews for doing "Straight up" but maybe not so on the Christina Aguilera song; Andrew got the last spot of the 12.
Alex Lambert was told he was going home. This is what he had to say. "I had a lot of fun and I learned a lot of stuff, I wish I hadn't been so nervous. There are a lot of things I'm capable. I wish I had given out more confidence.
Ellen told him, "You need to believe in yourself. And that comes from getting down and getting back up again. Don't ever stop believing in yourself!" to which Alex replied, "Thank you." Alex sang and held it together; I imagined he couldn't wait for it to end. The contestants hugged him hard and there were tears everywhere.
When the last of the girls up were Katie Stevens and Lilly Scott, I was pretty sure Lilly was staying but it was an upset. Somebody was dialing this week for Katie Stevenson and instead, Lilly was told she was going home.
Lilly Scott has been unique and consistent but the votes were not on her side. Lilly finished with "I fall to pieces" similarly to the version she did earlier in the week. My prediction is that she and Todrick Hall will "jump off" Idol and we will see them again someday, maybe as a half time of a future Idol Season, perhaps signed by Simon or Kara or maybe even Randy.
How did I do this week? Not very good at all, I didn't get one going home prediction right. Maybe that's why I'm not making the big bucks like Simon, Randy, Kara or Ellen. How did you do?

Post a CommentI would like to know if there is someone that can help me, I need the episode where Alex Lambert and Lilly where sent home...
Ineed to have their performances ... Alex put some sad tone to trouble that kept me crying all night, lilly deffended herself very well but I loved her too!!! please let me know diazltt@yahoo.com I hv been searching but...pls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Thank you!!
thanks for another great recap! :)
I have been watching Idol since the first season and have seen soo many talented people get voted off, people seem to only focus on cutsie and favoritsm or pity factor, and simply they don't vote for the good ones thinking they are safe. Lily Scott was an incredible talented woman, she knew where she was as an artist. Yet I see some who remained that are struggling to sing and find out who they are. I think they should bring Lily back!!! Please, she was amazing. If not she should be discovered.
Good update. I was really off on my picks to go home.
I haven't seen this yet, it's a day later in the UK. Good review.
Wow, I had to miss this last night, so this is the first I have read about who went home. I am TOTALLY shocked!!! Paige gets to stay!?!?! Lily gets sent home?!?! Yikes, I missed a lot last night! Thanks for the report Kay!
I swear people are tone deaf!! Am I the only one that thought Katie was out of tune?? America really messed up on letting Lilly and Alex go!! I guess America likes that generic Karoake sound!! At least Crystal & Lee are still in it!!
Oh well!
Pretty shocked that Lily and Todrick went home.
Totally missed it tonight, Kay. Thanks for the recap :) I liked Lilly, too. Cheers.
