American Idol 2010 Top 11 Results; Lacey Brown Leaving

Season 9

March 17 2010. The rules have changed on American Idol 2010 Season 9, as they always do at this stage of the competition. From tonight up until just five singers are left, the judges have the chance to save the singer with the lowest number of votes. The decision must be unanimous. If the singer is saved, then two singers will be eliminated the next week. Once the 'save' is used up for this season, there are no more 'saves'. The host is Ryan Seacrest. The judges are: Randy Jackson; Ellen DeGeneres; Kara DioGuardi; Simon Cowell.

Last night, the contestants sang songs of The Rolling Stones. Tonight, ex-American Idol contestant David Cook began the show with the Stones' 'Jumpin' Jack Flash'. His unexciting vocals were backed by an exciting band. After the performance, host Ryan Seacrest visited the two rows of seated Top 12 singers.

Results, Phase 1. The first singer sent by Ryan to take one of the bottom-three stools was Paige Miles. Next, three singers were pronounced safe- Lee Dewyze; Siobhan Magnus; Aaron Kelly. Ryan then asked Andrew Garcia and Tim Urban to stand up. He told Andrew that he was safe; he exiled Tim to a bottom-three stool.

Next up. A female Jimmy Hendrix, gorgeous Australian-Greek blonde Orianthi, 25 sang 'According to You' from her debut album, Believe. She met and jammed with Carlos Santana when she was 18. She was the late Michael Jackson's guitarist for his pending comeback tour This Is It. And can this rock star sing!

Results, Phase 2. Ryan pronounced as safe- Didi Benami; Crystal Bowersox; Katie Stevens; Michael 'Big Mike' Lynche. He then asked Casey James and Lacey Brown to stand up. He pronounced Casey safe and banished Lacey to the last vacant stool. Then, he surprisingly told the bottom three- Paige, Lacey, and Tim- that one of them was safe. He named Tim Urban, who then rejoined the 'safe' singers.

After a lively 'Blah, Blah, Blah' performance by Ke$ha and her male mix of singers and dancers, Ryan told Paige Miles that she was safe, which left Lacey Brown as the one to sing for her life. Lacey chose to reprise 'The Story' for her swan song. As she sang, the judges conferred about whether or not to save her. After her performance, Simon told Lacey that the judges were unanimous and that they would not save her.

Next Wednesday will be the real heartbreak night. After the Tuesday night performances and subsequent votes, one person will leave the show- unless he or she is saved by the judges- and American Idol 2010 Season 9 will have its Top 10 singers. It seems as if America's favorite singer this year will either be Siobhan Magnus with her Adam-Lambert-like-unpredictability or Janis-Joplin-like mega-talent Crystal Bowersox with Michael 'Big Mike' Lynche running third. Tim Urban has a career no matter what happens because of his major tween appeal. Of course, the Top 10 Tour will launch all the singers into music careers of some genre.

The Top 11 singers with their ages and hometowns- and the Rolling Stones songs that kept them in the singing competition- are:

American Idol Aaron Kelly, 16, Sonestone, Penn. - 'Angie'
American Idol Andrew Garcia, 24, Moreno Valley, Calif. - 'Gimme Shelter'

Great recap. Is it just me or does the show seem to drag on and on and on between the action???!!! It is so frustrating.

My favorite part of tonight was seeing David Cook sing... sorry that Lacy got voted out.
