When I reviewed Tuesday's show, I predicted that the bottom three would come from Mike, Andrew, Aaron or Tim, and that's how it went down...with the exception of Tim. Based on Aaron's performance on Tuesday of "The Long and Winding Road', I had a feeling that Aaron might be singing that as his swan song tonight; however, Aaron squeaked by this time.
If you have seen the American Idol program, you know that a trio of ominous stools await the unlucky contestants who receive the least amount of votes. The drama then leads to one of them being ousted at the end of the show. The loser is given a chance to sing a final song in an effort to sway the judges to unanimously 'save' him.
Host Ryan had Siobhan Magnus, Crystal Bowersox and Katie Stevens go to the center of the stage. It appeared that one of them would be leaving American Idol tonight, but it was a hoax. The girls were all given the green light for next week.
Next to be called on the American Idol carpet were the six guys. Ryan divided them into two groups. One group was composed of Lee DeWyze, Casey James and Tim Urban. Tim was the last to join that group and he seemed pleased to be in the company of Lee and Casey.
The group on the other side of the stage was comprised of Michael Lynche, Aaron Kelly and Andrew Garcia. One group was safe and one group was not. Mike, Aaron and Andrew received the grim news that they indeed were the bottom three.
Ryan quickly told the trio that one of them would be around next week. Aaron was the lucky guy. When it got down to Andrew and Mike, I thought for sure Andrew would be gone. Mike has that personality that makes you think the audience will give him lots of votes because they just really like him.
Michael Lynche visibly moved the audience with his exit song. Simon made him think that he would be leaving, but it was all in typical American Idol jest.
Big Mike got the big save.

Post a CommentVery cool. Thank you for the recap!
Great review. You're right... Big Mike had luck on his side. However, I think it was a waste of a "save", because the public will probably just vote him back out next week.
