Who Got Voted Off American Idol This Week, 4/28/2010, in the Top 6?

Tonight Ryan Seacrest came down the American Idol stairs amidst the audience shaking hands. He thanked everyone for their votes; last night they received 33 million votes.

Guests Tonigth: Shakira and Rascall Flatts, Sons of Sylvia and Lady Antebellum

Ryan Seacrest introduced Randy Jackson, Ellen DeGenerers, Kara DioGuardi, and Simon Cowell. To start things off, Rascall Flatts performed. They did great and the judges stood for them when they were done.

Seacrest said "One more person must exit the stage; nobody wants to leave, they've become friends."

Then Ryan Introduced a behind the scenes clip of the Idols preparing to be Vampires. The make-up artist said 'they were to be: Super Creepy, Attractive, Undead, Vampires. Idol played a clip of the American Idol Contestants walking through the woods, decked out with fake contacts, vampire teeth. Mike was the guy who was the "victim" and drove around in a Ford convertible. It was cool to see the idol ghouls and zombies.

Mike Mitchell, a sound engineer, demonstrated and then had the Idols to do a voice over to a piece of a Shrek clip. The idols did pretty good once they got the hang of it, and it looked like they had fun at Disney. Part of the launch of the movie included 250 fans coming into the theatre for a 3D special of the new Shrek movie.

Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas joined Ryan on the stage. Cameron said, "This Shrek movie is a bit tearful. There are new beginnings and new endings, and because it is the last one, there will be goodbyes."

Then Cameron and Antonio told Ryan, "You're the Best Host in the World."

Siobhan stood up first. Ryan asked Siobhan,"What was it like singing in front of Shania?" She replied, "It was intimidating but it was a really big honor; it was wicked cool. Ryan had her go to the far side of the stage.

Aaron Kelly then stood up. He got in the middle of the stage. Mike then stood up. He was on the right of the stage.

Lee Dewyze then stood up. Ryan asked him, "Was it hard to make the song your own last night?" Lee replied, "I said I wasn't going to do that song at first, but then I realized I really like it and I decided to do it." Lee stood with Siobhan on the far left hand side of the stage.

Casey James stood up and Kara was said, "Last night we heard what you can do and I think people really connected with that." Then Crystal stood up. Ryan asked Ellen, "Do you think Crystal is in danger". Ellen DeGeneres told Crystal Bowersox, "You are always good but it just wasn't the best performance, but Crystal, no I don't think you're in trouble. America is not that fickle."

Siobhan, Casey and Michael are in the bottom three and Siobhan looked petrified.

Next week, Harry Connick Jr will mentor the idols with songs from Sinatra. Don't forget you can download all the performances from I-Tunes.

Suns of Sylvia was introduced by Idol's own Carrie Underwood who won the American Idol season five years ago. Carrie said she's been playing with these musicians and she gave them a great endorsement. They performed, "What You Waiting For". The lead singer played a fiddle but the group didn't impress me much.

On the other hand, the next performance wowed me. Lady Antebellum's song "Need you Now" just went Platinum. Their harmonies were great, and although they didn't go jumping all over the stage, I felt that this performance was more compelling than many that we have seen on this season of American Idol.

Then we got to hear a special duet for the first time ever with Shakir and Rascal Flatts singing 'Gypsy'. Shakira started and ended the song playing the harmonica, and the stage had two dancers that mimicked her movements. As the song progressed she and Rascall Flatts singer, Roger, went out into the front stage amidst the audience and sounded lovely with their soulful harmonies and the ending harmonica.

Shakira was asked, "What advice do you have for these Idols?" She said, "Keep your eyes on the stars, and remember to keep your feet on the ground."

Siobhan Magnus is going home

Siobhan has an independent spirit and a hard work ethic. When asked by Ryan, "How has this impacted your sister?" Siobhan replied, "I hope it will impact them a lot". Tonight she looked a little like Sandra Bullock to me as she watched her own "goodbye" movie. There were no tears for this girl, though she did hug her mommy, her sister and the judges, and they all hugged her back. Not the nice nice hug, but genuine hugs. Randy said, "You've got a career ahead of you."

I'm disappointed that Siobhan is going home but I can't argue that there was a lot of competition last night. Upon reviewing the show again, after I published my recap, I did say to myself, what was I thinking? Oh well, I'm sure we will see Siobhan again. Next week is Sinatra. Wonder who is going to pick, "I did it my way".
