It's time for another season of "American Idol." As we begin our season, we are going to give our "personal" opinion of how the contestants rank. Who do we think is going to get booted off? Get ready to add in your opinion as we dive into the amazing and not so amazing performances of "American Idol" from the guys.

After hearing guys like Jacob Lusk, Scotty McCreery, Paul McDonald, and Casey Abrams sing, we've begun to wonder if we will have a guy win "American Idol," because these guys were HOT last night. There is no doubt that the guys brought their A Game to the "Idol" stage.

Star-Quality "American Idol" Performances

Jacob Lusk

There are times when we, the viewers, hear a performance and realize we've just witnessed a star in the making. Lusk sounds a lot like Luther Vandross but has differences that make him a star by himself. His range was flawless and the emotion he evoked from one song was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Scotty McCreery

I have a thing for a good country singer. That doesn't mean I want to listen to country all the time, but it's about time we had a down-home country singer like Scotty McCreery. Besides, he picked a song that fitted his personality, style, and voice!

Paul McDonald

Paul McDonald sang "Maggie May," and although we weren't sure about his dance moves, the guy could sing. He knew who he was, and wasn't afraid to show "American Idol" just who he was. He has a personality and shows viewers what he will bring to the show. That's a good thing as this was day 1 for viewers getting to add their two cents in.

Casey Abrams

Abrams is extremely confident in himself, his singing, and in the audience's response to him. The guy can sing; boy can he sing! There was something about Abrams that was authentic and we can't help but think viewers will be begging for more.

Good but Not Great "American Idol" Performances

Clint Jun Gamboa

The judges seemed to love his performance. We felt there were parts that were amazing, and parts that were just So-So. Even though he had an okay performance, there isn't room for error on the "Idol" stage. Either he's amazing or he goes home.

Jovany Barreto

Barreto will get the girl votes, but at the end of the day, is that enough? He has a beautiful voice, and if we weren't getting down to the Top 10, I would say he is a sure thing. Just not sure his performance was good enough to get through till next week.

James Durbin

First, Durbin needs to realize the only thing he needs to stand out is his voice. The scarf thingy needs to go ASAP! His attempt at being a rocker was a rocker-kinda-song. We aren't hoping a rocker makes it through till the end, but the guy can sing. If we judge by performances, he had a solid performance.

Tim Halperin

Sadly, I had my hopes for Halperin to do amazingly. He sang Rob Thomas' "Streetcorner Symphony," and it was just an OK performance. Nothing amazing even though he attempted to get the hand-waving clappers to really get the audience into his song. Just not sure he sang well enough to move on.

Stefano Langone

Lagone's was another performance that was just OK. The girls will love him, and that could possibly carry him through till next week. If he does make it, he needs to return to why the judges brought him.

Just Okay/Bad "American Idol" Performances

Jordan Dorsey

Dorsey attempted, and I do mean attempted, to sing an Usher song. From the second he started sining, we were saying "Why?" It was a terrible performance and to have made it to the "American Idol" stage, we are still shaking our heads that he picked the song that he did.

Brett Loewenstern

Regardless to the judges liking his performance, Loewenstern did not seem to pull his small voice into the star quality performances we look for on the "Idol" stage. As he shook his head, over and over, we eventually did the inevitable and fast forwarded his performance. Sorry, Brett! Sadly, we think he might be safe because viewers seem to vote for likable kids -- did I mention Brett sounded terrible?

Robbie Rosen

Youthful and full of energy, Rosen is one "Idol" contestant many are following with interest. He's young, has an amazing voice, and has the entire package. Unfortunately, he didn't bring that star quality to the "Idol" stage.
