'American Idol' 2011 Top 24 List and Spoilers

"American Idol" 2011 took Las Vegas by storm Wednesday night as the remaining 61 hopefuls broke into duos and trios to perform Beatles classics for judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson. Following an hour of "Let it Be," "Here Comes the Sun" and a host of other retooled and personalized tunes, the field was narrowed to the top 40 and the contestants returned to Los Angeles to sing for their lives prior to facing final judgment. The Ladies

Naima Adedapo

Naima was tearful as she sat and faced the judges. Steven said he was "sorry to have to say this, but you're going to have a long, long haul in this business" as he revealed that she'd made it to the top 24. He went on to remark "Look at you, Naima. You're a flower. Now bloom." (And I think she will!)

Haley Reinhart

Steven told her "we're really afraid to say it but you've made it." I'm still not sold on Haley. I think her voice is weaker and less distinctive than those of many others in the competition.

Ashthon Jones

Jennifer called her "one of the most consistent contestants" of the bunch but worried that she might not be able to hack the pressure. Ashthon looked stunned as she learned she'd made the cut. Now she just needs to stop crying and sing!

Cast list information aside, the night's most raw and emotional moment came when Chris Medina, whose story of devotion to fiancee Juliana Ramos, who was tragically injured in a car accident shortly before their planned nuptials, was eliminated from contention.
