Then 16-year-old Allison Iraheta woke things up with a strong rendition of "Alone" by Heart. This young girl with the bright read hair and dizzy personality "blew it out the box" according to Randy. Kara thinks she has no idea how good she is. I think she does know. She is a great performer, but really needs to work on her goofy facial expressions. Something about her personality is irritating. She better be real careful or she will end up sitting with Tatiana.
I thought that Allison had tonight in the bag...until Mishavonna Henson belted out "Drop to Jupiter". This girl has got some good vocals going on. In my opinion, Mishavonna ruled the girls tonight. She was on the money the entire song. I think she performed with great confidence. I was equally impressed with how she handled herself with the judges afterward. Not easily ruffled, I think she walked off the stage feeling that the night is hers.
The girls did fairly well tonight. I loved, loved Megan Joy Corkrey. Standing on stage barefoot and beautiful, she belted out "Put Your Record On". She reminded me so much of Amy Winehouse. With her hands to her side, swinging back and forth to the music in a move she called the "Corkrey" she really made this voting thing more difficult.
What male singer got my vote? Why Matt Breitzke of course! Something about this working man really gets me. I would love to see him and Michael Sarver go head to head. I have to disagree with all the judges. I felt like he brought it to the competition tonight, and I loved the song, too.
Who gets my wild card vote for tonight? Why Kai of course! Kai Kalama rocked it! Up until Kai hit the stage, Matt Breizke had my vote for the best male singer on American Idol tonight. Dreamy eyed Kai sang "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted". The judges kept saying it was too "old". I thought it was great. I really don't know which of these two guys I like the best. I just want to keep them both!
