American Idol 8: 'Que Sera Sera' for Tatiana; Also, Round 2 Predictions

America Votes to Keep Best Three Idols for Top 12: Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver, Danny Gokie. Poor Tatiana - What Will Happen Now?

Aly Adair
There is no doubt at this point in American Idol Season 8, that Alexis Grace, aged 21, from Memphis, Tennessee, should capture the American Idol Season 8 coveted title as America's next American Idol. The simple, turned sassy American Idol Season 8 contestant blew away voters and judges Tuesday night with her soulful blues performance of Never Loved A Man. Alexis Grace is clearly the frontrunner to beat.

Group 1 started the official America Votes night of American Idol Season 8 with a luke warm rendition of the smash hit I'm Yours by Jason Mraz. Click here to view a video performance of American Idol runner up David Archuleta singing I'm Yours by Jason Mraz. American Idol Season 7 contestants Michael Johns and Carly Smithson also treated America to a powerful duet, singing The Letter. America is in the mood to help those in need as American Idol 8 contestants Michael Sarver and Danny Gokie were also voted through to the Top 12. Who doesn't want to help Danny Gokie, aged 28 from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, mend his broken heart after hearing that his wife died? Not only does America want to help Danny, America loved his tear-jerking version of Hero. After wiping away tears with Kleenex, America voted and Danny stays.

Another American hero that got America's votes for the first three of the Top 12 American Idols is Michael Sarver. Michael sang I Don't Want to Be and afterward America rushed to the phones to vote for this blue collar Dad who, like so many Americans now, wants to survive and provide for his wife and children. Michael has my vote.

A couple of disappointing results that are sure to do well in the American Idol wildcard round are Anoop Desai and Ricky Braddy. They both sing great but need to step up their stage presence and song choice if they have any hopes of making it in the wildcard round. Anoop sang Angel of Mine and Ricky sang A Song for You. Both performances were outstanding but not the best of the night. Alexis Grace is the competition to beat and it will be hard to top her performance if she stays on top of her American Idol game.

Poor Tatiana Nicole Del Toro, aged 24 from San Juan, Puerto Rico, was sent packing in Round 1 ending her American Idol dreams after singing Saving All My Love for You. The strange thing is, Tatiana can sing and might make the wildcard round, but the competition is stiff and America is not in the mood for self-indulgent American Idol contestants this season. Talk about a wrong song choice: America doesn't really want all of Tatiana's love.

The American Idol cameraman had a hard time keeping the camera on deserving Danny's encore performance of Hero and not on drama queen Tatiana, as she so often does, displayed her extreme emotional feelings on her shoulder and on our TV screens. I am not looking for Tatiana to make the wild card round, but I am sure she will do well in her singing career if she grows up.

My American Idol picks for Round 2 of American Idol Season 8 are bad boy Adam Lambert (click here to read more about Adam Lambert and view videos of his theater performances), 16-year old Jasmine Murray who has the same poise, maturity, and equally beautiful voice as Jordan Sparks, and Matt Breitzke - the other blue collar American worker and family man from Oklahoma who America fell in love with during the Kansas City auditions.

    Tatiana is Gold.
That's all there is to it.

I was thrilled to see Tatiana canned. Her antics after the announcement proved she didn't deserve to be there. She even refused to clap for her opponent while all of the other losers put on a brave face and delivered a first class performance.
