American Idol Guest Mentor for April 13, 2010
American Idol runner-up from season eight is the mentor for this week's Elvis themed show. Adam Lambert is reported to be the mentor working with the American Idol performers this week.
Does Adam Lambert have enough performing experience to mentor the American Idol contestants? It was only one year ago that he was a contestant himself. If nothing else, Adam should have insight on what the judges are looking for and an understanding, maybe empathy, of what the performers are going through.
This means that Adam Lambert will also be performing on Wednesday night's results show. Entertainment Weekly reports that Adam will sing "Whattaya Want From Me."
American Idol top 9, take two.
On American Idol last week, Michael Lynche got the least amount of votes for his performance of "Eleanor Rigby" (Here's my review of Michael Lynche's performance). It looked like the end of the Idol road for Big Mike as he sang "This Woman's Work" in an effort to remain an American Idol contestant. The judges were convinced and unanimously agreed to use their one 'save' of the season and let Michael Lynche remain and keep competing. So can Michael Lynche come back this week and keep the voters voting for him?
Since the judges used their one and only 'save' on Michael Lynche last week it means that two Idol contestants will be voted off this week. The April 14th results show should prove interesting when the bottom two contestants will go home.
American Idol Elvis Performances
The tough decision that the contestants have is how do you do Elvis? If the contestants keep with the theme and perform similar to Elvis then the judges will critique them as being karaoke or corny. But if they change the songs too much then they may be criticized for ruining a great song. So, please Tim, no more slides across the stage.
Last week Ryan Seacrest asked Simon Cowell if the contestants should change the songs. Simon's response: "Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Certain songs shouldn't be changed but others can." I think Simon's statement will hold true again this week.

I think this will be quite interesting!
I think I'll pass.
I'm excited to see Adam Lambert on "AI" again. He'll be a great mentor, I bet. :)
You know Adam's been performing since age 10. His drama coach who remained his coach for several years said he mentored the younger kids. He is a genuine nice guy with a lot of experience growing up singing and on the stage. He will put his heart into mentoring these contestants but in the end it is their performances and they stand alone on the stage to win or lose. Hope they listen to Adam because he's been there and done that.
'Ya know, the first thing that comes to my mind after reading this article is simply that Adam Lambert would know exactly how to navigate this theme, and do it not only brilliantly but also in a way that comes of effortless. Damn, the more I think about it, the more I get actually disappointed that Lambert won't be participating as a contestant in this week's performance show. Well, here's hoping I get good seats/tickets for Lambert's summer tour.
Haven't been following -- but good article!
I think Adam will be an okay mentor - but Elvis songs? I think he would have been a better mentor for songs from Mick Jagger. Should be interesting. Cheers :)
