American Idol Agonizes with Another Drawn-Out Round of Eliminations

If you like unnecessary, drawn-out drama, then hopefully you checked out last night's American Idol. It was a two hour episode in which they showed random snippets of select singers' performances from Hollywood week and finally announced who some of the twenty-four semi-finalists are.

I believe last night's show could have been slimmed down an hour. There was too much slow panning around rooms of anxious contestants and too many shots of tear-stained faces. It was kinda like a slow moving movie that doesn't entice you to keep watching.

As I've said in my previous AI post, some singers have received more attention from the beginning. I noticed that every time they showed the contestants in each elimination group, there were faces I didn't remember, but there were others I remembered well from sob stories and overexposure. However, those who made the cut last night were singers who've all had at least one vignette during the past few weeks.

What I couldn't believe is that they didn't announce who all of the semi-finalists are. Instead, they revealed only seven, leaving us to tune in on Wednesday for more. It was a cruel joke, especially considering the fact that they had plenty of time to announce all the finalists, visit their hometowns, meet the president, travel to the moon, etc.

The seven people who made it through as semi-finalist last night are:

Michael Lynche

Katelyn Epperly

Casey James

Aaron Kelly

Lee Dewyze

Didi Bename

Todrick Hall

This is way off subject, but am I the only one who noticed how aqua blue Ellen's eyes are? Real or contacts?

Anyway, Wednesday's episode airs at 9, 8/c. It's in a one hour time slot, but I suspect it could be squeezed into thirty minutes. If it were up to me, I'd announce it in about 30 seconds, just like the Powerball lottery.
