American Idol: Casey James- is He the Real Thing?

Even Simon Cowell was impressed by Casey James performance Wednesday night, the blonde, blue-eyed Texan whose audition in Denver cranked up the female judges. Especially Kara DioGuardi, whose husband was present for the elimination-show, Thursday night. All of this is Hollywood drama used to attract more viewers as American Idol is taking a drubbing from the Olympics in the ratings war. So don't get caught up in the Kara-Casey affair, its going nowhere.

Who is Casey James?

Casey James is a 27 year-old musician from Ft. Worth Texas. Owner of two basset hounds Casey is an animal lover per the American Idol website. But aside from animals Casey is definitely in the running with his acoustic guitar, good vocals and outstanding looks.

As evidenced by the gaga looks and warm smiles from Kara, an American Idol judge, Casey is a force to be reckoned with. As a singer-songwriter he shows evidence of stardom as he has a very relaxed confident presence on stage. He has so far chose songs that showcase his talents and help him connect to the audience and judges.

Do American Idol Judges Like Casey James?

Well aside from gushing Mrs. DioGuardi they did like Casey. Simon said, "This was the best performance I have heard from you since you have been in the competition." Ellen said, "I think you will get votes like crazy."

Everyone liked his performance because as Simon said, "You absolutely chose the right song. It came over as very honest, very sincere." It was a good performance because he was himself. Casey did not try to do things vocally that he could not do. But what he did was terrific. Interesting that we find simple, honest music as terrific. But that is how a musician connects with his audience.

Can Casey James Continue to Wow Us with His Music?

So far Casey has had a limited range of songs. But I believe if he develops each performance based on honesty, simplicity and a certain amount of his sound- he will succeed and is an early leader in the male side of the house. Last year Kris Allen hit several home runs with his performances and won the title, I believe, because he stuck with his formula for success, which is very similar to Casey James this year.

I also believe he needs to get beyond the Kara fascination as she will play him like a banjo to further her career. Casey your music is your key to success use it wisely.
