American Idol Casey James Makes Bad Song Choice with "Mrs. Robinson"
Simon and Garfunkel's Classic Hit from 'The Graduate' Sparks the Usual Banter
Casey is one of the remaining top four American Idols. He is in the company of Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze and Michael Lynche. The winner will be decided in two short weeks.
Casey sat center stage tonight, flanked by his fans. If those fans have their way, Casey won't be getting the boot next week.
Casey's rendition of "Mrs. Robinson" was a good fit for him. I enjoyed his mandolin accompaniment. Casey is more than good on stringed instruments. That fact combined with his strong voice will take him far in the music industry.
Mike Lynche and Casey teamed up tonight for a duet singing "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman" from the movie Don Juan DeMarco. Their rendition of that song could go off the charts today if it were marketed.
I like Casey's raspy tone. His vibrato goes over the top sometimes, but when he closes his eyes-which he seems to do when he's feeling the lyrics- and really belts it out, he nails a song.
Casey is always cool and collected on stage. Yet, he looks as if he's inwardly pleading with the audience to accept him. He has a humble quality that is appealing.
His style is a bluesy rock, but I imagine the country music force will pursue him as well.
The American Idol website says that Casey's favorite quote is "Be happy in your situation. It could always be worse." In Casey's situation...it couldn't get much better.

Wow, you worded this perfectly.
Love Casey..............thanks for saying something nice about him! He's been getting hit below the belt lately. And, yes, he is very humble.
