Now we find our way toward more changes and less predictability. Will "Idol" be able to pull in the viewers to make this another #1 show? Or could they possibly be in the final seasons? The questions mount as January quickly approaches with the Season Premiere of "American Idol."
"American Idol" Change #1
There was no love lost between "American Idol" viewers and Ellen De Generes and Kara Dioguardi. They never were able to really connect with "Idol" viewers, and the ratings and viewers were an indicator of this. For whatever reason, their leaving can only help the show.
What we know: There is something about "American Idol" that can bring the fans from all walks of life as we all sit and watch our favorite singers sing their hearts out. It's then up to the producers to keep us, the "Idol" fans, watching. Boredom of the same-ol', same-ol', can be a dangerous combination.
"American Idol" Change #2
Jennifer Lopez and Stephen Tyler now join Randy Jackson as judges on "American Idol" for a star-studded panel of judges. Is this really what's needed to turn the show around? Somehow, "Idol" just doesn't have star power of "Dancing with the Stars." Changing up the judges is a risky venture, yet I somehow think it was a move that needed to be made. J-Lo could be just what "Idol" needs.
"American Idol" Change #3
Instead of the usual Top 24 "American Idol" contestants, now there will only be a Top 12, according to People. Can you hear the drum roll? This could be a make-or-break move for many of the contestants. Instead of having the ability to get to the top 24, the race will now be much tighter as they fight for the top 12. The fight is on for contestants!
Somehow I wonder if there were better changes that could have been made instead of this one. I actually loved seeing the Top 24 find their way to the stage. I just got tired of the same system that was used to get them there. Couldn't they spice it and bring surprises to the contestants? The kind of surprises that will keep on them on their toes, separating the excellent from the mediocre?

Post a CommentJ Lo is just what Idol needs?!! Please tell me you're joking. The show is DONE without Simon, and J Lo only makes it worse, as does Steven Tyler. When something is loved by many, it should NEVER change, and the Idol judging panel was one of those things. This is not American Idol; this is two stunt casters sitting next to Randy in a pathetic vehicle that much more closely resembles an Idol knockoff than the real thing. The show is in its final SEASON, singularly, and I don't even think it's going to finish that out.
