American Idol Chit Chat and Chatter from Season 9 Previews Tonight's Show

American Idols Around the Town

Rhonda Manning
Everyone anxiously awaits and prepares to tune in tonight as the nine American Idol finalists continue to follow their dream singing tunes from the Lennon- Mc Cartney songbook. It should be an exciting evening. All of the contestants have been polishing up their performances and each one of the eight Idols know full well how important it will be to make a good impression on the judges. For some, tonight's performance will mean do-or-die. Stay, or leave. The one Beatles song they choose may determine if they will still be in the running in this competition that will decide who will be the next American Idol.

Idol's Eight Perform Tonight-Season 9

David Archuleta and Jason Derulo will perform with Rihanna on Wednesday's night's elimination show. We know what song David will be performing. Of course, his moving rendition of John Lennon's classic, "Imagine." You may remember that David selected this song and performed it during the Beatles song week of Season 7. The Los Angeles Times reports that Derulo will sing his new single, "In My Head," and Rihanna, as I reported earlier, will be singing "Te Amo."

Booted Idol Makes the Rounds

Since her elimination from Idol, Didi Benami has been out-and-about, making the rounds with public appearances. She made a visit to the "If I Can Dream" house this past Friday and I heard she reunited with fellow American Idol Alex Lambert. Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez caught up with Didi and the two talked. Idol talk, of course. Didi admires former Idols Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, but said that Jennifer Hudson was most inspiring because she didn't win, like Kelly and Carrie, and look where she is today. Right on, Didi. I totally agree.

We could tell there was something going on between Didi and Simon during the judging. Didi explains that she left with a bit of resentment towards Simon Cowell. According to USA Today, Didi says,"I do remember Simon saying,'That's what happens when you pick the wrong song.'

"That was the last thing he said to me, which really kind of hurt. I was like, really?"

American Idol Anoop Desai has a new single coming out, "My Name," and he sang it on Atlanta's Fox 5 Monday. He also talked with Good Day Atlanta's host, Suchita Vadlamani, promoting his new album that will be hitting the stores soon. The two discussed the Bollywood music scene and how it influenced Desai. American Idols on the Billboard Chart

Three of our Idols have respectable standings on the Billboard Pop chart. This chart is the week's hottest pop songs ranked by the mainstream top 40 radio airplay. Let's take a look.

Adam Lambert
sits at number 14, with his hit, "Whataya Want From Me." I think this song will continue to climb the charts, both the Pop chart and the Top 100.

Kris Allen
is right behind Adam, positioned at number 17, just three notches away, with his song, "Live Like We're Dying."

Idols rule with Chris Daughtry checking in at number 19 on the Pop charts singing his tune, "Life After You."
