American Idol Contestant Chris Golightly Disqualified

Fans of Chris Golightly were surprised to see him unusually absent from the naming of the top 24 American Idol contestants. Instead of Chris Golightly, Tim Urban's name and face were displayed.

According to Yahoo! news, a Fox representative said, "It has been determined that Chris Golightly is ineligible to continue in the competition. AMERICAN IDOL contestant Tim Urban has replaced Golightly as part of the Top 24."

Fans are scratching their heads in response to this announcement. Fox failed to offer any explanation for why Golightly was disqualified.

Golightly is not the first contestant to be disqualified this season. Joanna Pacitti was disqualified from the Top 36 when it was discovered that she had connections to two different 19 Entertainment employees. 19 Entertainment, along with Fremantle media, are the producers of American Idol.

Pacitti was dropped from the show so as to avoid any accusations of unfairness on the part of the show's producers.

This does not answer the fan's questions for why Golightly was disqualified. One theory is that it has to do with his involvement in a contract with a boy band. This seems to be the most plausible explanation for his dismissal, however, his contract with the band expired a month before American Idol auditions. Because no major record deals were made, his participation was still within the rules of American Idol.

Whatever the reason, Golightly's fan base is extremely disappointed with his dismissal from the show.
