American Idol Contestant, Colin Leahy, Caught Sending Sexually Provocative Text Messages to Minors

Rosa Hayes
American Idol might be one of the most watched television shows but it has done no justice when it comes to all the wrong that the contestants have done. Take for instance, Colin Leahy, this guy was busted for sending sexual provocative text messages as reported by GAWKER.

Child predators are all around us and many people don't even realize that the person that their child might be visiting is a child predator or a sex offender.

It seems that American Idol has done a real bang up job when it comes to selecting its contestants for the show.

American Idol seems to be having a bad streak with their contestants being in the spotlight for more than just their singing. There was once a bad run on contestants who had taken nude photos that later arose.

How about the fact that Amanda Overmyer was busted in 2006 for a DUI? You remember her don't you? She was the rocker with the raspy voice and apparently a bad night with the police.

Jessica Sierra was one of American Idol's finalists and she was busted for drugs after allegedly struck a man during an argument. This might make for great talk but what about our children who come to idol American Idol?

So, now we have child predators, nude photos, DUI's, and drugs. What could be next, rapist? American Idol might be a great show to watch but with people like Colin Leahy, they should be doing a background check on the contestants.

According to Headline News, the only form of background check that they do on the contestants is a form of questions but who doesn't tell little white lies on their applications?

What if we all decided that American Idol contestants need to undergo a background check before even being aired on the show? Maybe we wouldn't have to find out later that our favorite idols are child predators like Colin Leahy or getting busted for drugs like Jessica Sierra.

I love Colin. He's my friend. We go to college together, and that son's mother is a bitch. It's all a lie, a setup.

Adam, believe it or not he was a contestant if he tried out for the show. A contestant is someone who is trying to achieve or win something and this is exactly what he was doing. As far as them predicting the future, maybe not but they should have did a background check on the contestants anyway just look at some of the other contestants such as a few that I have listed.

And the reality drama continues.... I think the media spotlights the few bad ones over and over again, but doesn't talk enough about the hundreds of other contestants over the years that have done nothing bad, perhaps even some good!

Sorry, but this is just an incredible stupid article. First of all, Colin Leahy was not a contestant on American Idol -- he auditioned and was rejected. And even if the producers has run a background check on him at the time, they would have found nothing, because he hadn't done anything yet. Blaming American Idol for failing to predict that one of its thousands of auditioners would one day get into trouble with the law is inane.

That Jessica one was arrested I think two times, had a sex tape, was on that celebrity rehab show and then was pregnant. But you are so dead on.

That's really disgusting. Apparently the kids were really young, too.
