American Idol: Crystal Bowersox

Crystal Bowersox: Will She Rock After Hospital Visit?

Kirby Rooks
Will Crystal Bowersox, who rocks the stage with her acoustic guitar and ever present harmonica, be able to continue her domination of the American Idol women? Can she focus and do what she does best? We will see tonight as they take the stage to move on to next weeks sweet sixteen round.

Who is Crystal Bowersox?
Crystal is a 24 year-old mom from Elliston, Ohio. Crystal plays small venues and hangs with friends, but she no doubt is a legitimate contender for the American Idol Season 9 winner.

She spends time learning new songs and preparing for her role on American Idol each week. She misses her baby and boyfriend back home and says if she has to come to LA in the future for work she will bring child and boyfriend along.

Attractive in a rustic, alternative sort of way, Crystal is a musician/songwriter who exemplifies the new breed of contestants on American Idol. She loves to play and is very comfortable on stage. The judges have been wowed by her Janice Joplin voice and Woody Guthrie guitar sound. Obviously she has practiced and played in front of live audiences, which is more then I can say for most of the contestants this year.

Who are Crystal's Main Competitors?
I see Crystal main competition coming from the comely 20 year-old Lilly Scott from Littleton, Co and the 19 year-old singer from Barnstable, MA. Siobhan Magnus. Both are relaxed on stage and like Crystal this is what they do.

I think technically Siobhan is the best, but I believe Crystal has the heart, desire and confidence to be the next American Idol. But like Crystal, Lilly Scott lives and breathes music. She even lived in her car part of last year and sang for tips to support herself. She will be a tough competitor.

There is something very romantic about Crystals life that causes me to believe that destiny is on her side. She has nailed every song from Audition, Hollywood Week, and live on the Top 24. She has a sound that emanates from deep inside. She also knows who she is and what her singing voice can and cannot do physically. But most of all she plays to her strengths.

I believe that Crystal has the stage presence and audacity to pull this off and become a great recording star. We will see tonight when the Top 10 Girls take the stage. Good Luck Crystal!

It's too bad we didn't get to see more competition with Lilly Scott
