American Idol is Done "Clowning Around"

The Various Fake Performances with Their Ups and Downs

Some of the most successful artists have been discovered by the hit-show, American Idol. Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken, Taylor Hicks, David Cook, and David Archuleta are all very well-known artists, having been nothing before appearing on the show. The first episode this season, appearing on Fox, raked in around 30,000,000 viewers each night[1]. It seems that the show just brings in more and more people watching every year! But how far are people willing to go to just get their thirty seconds of fame in front of the entire nation?

As a lot of people watch the show to see the amazing amounts of talent, I can speak for all of us when I say that we like the humor in it also. The fake performances, people dressed up in costumes, all of those people just trying to make it onto the air. I believe that these people are stealing the show time from the people that have the real talent! While terrible people are getting most of the show, the Hollywood goers hardly get their part in showing America what they are made of. But why is this, you may ask?

As you probably know, the main purpose of all companies is to make a profit. If doing something could increase a company's revenue, then they won't think twice about including it! Then the people who saw how many viewers the popular show received each night, they wanted to have their chance to be on Live TV. In order to make sure that they made it on the air was to have the most outrageous audition. This way Fox would include them to just attract more viewers. The only drawback to this is, is that the people who are actually talented don't have their time on the show.

So, what can we do about this? Well, the truth is, we cannot do anything about this. Fox does not want to give up their 30 million viewers because some people think that the people with the real talent don't get their share of fame. The only thing you can do is sit back, enjoy the show, and know that there is more to the show than meets the eye. I guess that the people will never be done "Clowning Around", whether we like it or not.
