"American Idol" Episode 4 Recap: Nashville Auditions

Jenna de Salea
It was time to head to Nashville after spending entirely too much time in Milwaukee on "American Idol" last night, and thankfully it was only an hour of less than memorable performances. You would think that for a city as rich in music as Nashville there would have been more stellar performances, but most of it was just kind of flat. Even the terrible people were flatly terrible. So here are the highlights of last night's episode.

Rob Bolin and Chelsea Oaks
Rob and Chelsea were the couple that broke up, but still auditioned together anyway. Truly beautiful singing when they sang together, and not too shabby when they were by themselves. I think Chelsea will go further than Rob, but no matter what they should find a way to keep singing together. Hey guys, even Jennifer Lopez is pulling for you two! It was hysterical to see Chelsea's new boyfriend totally throw Rob some shade and only shake his hand when Ryan Seacrest made him.

Stormi Henley
So Stormi is a former Miss Teen USA and since she wasn't famous enough then, she's going to go ahead and make a go of it on "American Idol." Of course Steven Tyler was in love with her, and Randy Jackson thought she was "Ai'ight." Jennifer wasn't feeling it and gave her a qualified, "no," but the guys got her through to Hollywood, so we'll see how this goes.

Adrienne Beasley
Adrienne was good because not only did she have a unique story being the adopted black daughter of white farmers in Kentucky, but she had a very good voice. Not a lot of personality there, but again these are only the auditions.

There were some other good auditions like Jackie Wilson and Matt Dillard, but not all that memorable.

Honorable mention in the "horrible" category goes to Kameela Merricks. See, with her we were faked out a bit, because she talked about singing for her entire life and how people can never believe such a large sound comes out of such a tiny person. I'm thinking this might be another Jennifer Hudson, until Kameela busted out a Chaka Kahn song that made all of the neighborhood dogs howl. Yikes.

So that wraps up last night's Nashville Auditions. Nothing too magical. Only one more week until Hollywood when this competition actually starts.
