American Idol Fave Matt Breitzke Loses After Talking Smack to Simon Cowell
American Idol Season 8 Top 12 Picks from Group 2: Allison Iraheta, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert
It could also be a duet with American Idol Group 2 Top 12 winners Allison Iraheta, 16 years old from Los Angeles, who sang Alone and Kris Allen, 23 years old from Conway, Arkansas, who sang Man in the Mirror.
American Idol fans were treated to a special performance Thursday night by former Idol contestant fave Brooke White singing her first recording Hold Up My Heart while playing soft piano as only Brooke can do. Outstanding song!
The big disappointment of the night was Matt Breitzke who sang If You Could Only See. Matt lost my vote after talking big boy smack to Simon Cowell and the other judges when they suggested that he picked the wrong song. Matt Breitzke told Simon that he disagreed. Randy, Kara, and Paula all agreed with Simon and told Matt it was not the best song choice for this stage of the American Idol competition. When American Idol host Ryan Seacrest asked Matt if he would have taken Simon's advice before the performance and changed his song, Matt replied that he would have sang the song anyway because he loves that song.
There were a few times during American Idol Season 7 that American Idol winner David Cook got a little cocky with the judges and talked some ego smack. David Cook soon realized that he overstepped his bounds and in later shows, David changed his tune. It is amazing how every American Idol contestants for the past eight seasons begin their journey telling America and American Idol judges how:
"This is more important to me than anything in my life."
"This is what I've always dreamed of doing."
"This is the only thing I've ever wanted to do in my life."
"I need to do this for my children and my family so they are better off."
"This is the most amazing opportunity for me. I will not let America down."
"I am the next American Idol!"
When will American Idol contestants learn that in the first week of voting, they are still amateur performers, amateur singers, and they benefit from the judges expertise in the music industry if they really wanted to be the next American Idol? Matt Breitzke and the other hot shot amateurs that talk smack to the judges are risking losing America's votes.
There is nothing wrong with American Idol contestants that want to stay true to themselves, sing their favorite songs, and talk smack AFTER they win the American Idol competition and after they win a few Grammy Awards! In the meantime, remember that the American Idol judges are there to help you break into the impossible music recording industry. You would not be on American Idol if the judges did not think you have talent and potential. After seven seasons of American Idol, the judges have a pretty good pulse on America and how they will vote. Listen, Learn, and Live your dream.

Post a CommentI totally disagree with the whole idea of not voting for someone just because they disagree with the judges. I think Matt's voice was beautiful + I enjoyed his performance. Simon (despite all his experience) is human + I feel that sometimes he talks out of his butt.
I agree, I liked him till he disagreed with Simon..because they are all there to learn from those who know better and he should have acted as such. As we know Simon is usually right! Good job!
Interesting :) Sheri
It is funny. I first started to be a David Cook fan after he told Simon he didn't have to win him over with his charisma, but rather had to win over the audience. It was Simon who completely over reacted to the comment. No one else, not Randy, not Paula, not Ryan thought David meant any disrespect. And, never again the entire season did David Cook talk back to Simon. He learned his lesson well that one time. Even after Simon's completely off base comments the final performance night, David Cook, when asked, very respectfully explained his reasoning for singing the beautiful and haunting rendition of The World I Know. It was not done in a tone of "ego smack", but rather as a heartfelt explanation. The contestants this year could take a page from David's lessons learned.
I don't think Matt talked "smack", he just disagreed. I think you are totally wrong on people losing out when they talk back to Simon. Heck, I vote all the more for the person if they stand up for themselves!
Besides, Simon is one judge who puts people down for looks or what they wear. Like he has any sense of style and he think Leona Lewis is pretty, so what the heck does he know!
I hate that it has become the cool thing to do to talk smack to the judges. The judges are judges for a reason! They know the business and really do have a clue! Too bad most of the young hopefuls refuse to listen to their constructive criticism.
David Cook never talked "smack" to Simon. There was one time when David quipped that he didn't have to win Simon over, but that he just had to win the audience over. Somehow Simon misunderstood that and railed back at David. But one thing DC said it taught him was that from that point forward (it was the just second week of competition) just nod and smile during the judging and don't say a word.
I am always surprised by the verdict and how so mmuch crap is elevated..I can't get into this show anymore..but it makes me understand the results of the last presidential election that much better ;-)
I didn't care for Matt's attitude. I don't think he necessarily picked the wrong song I just think he was boring. I don't know that another song would have helped that. I'm glad they picked Kris Allen. I really liked him.
As far as David Cook he talked smack once when Simon attacked his person. Most the people I've talked to agreed with his reaction. Simon needs to stick to the music part and leave the contestants' hobbies alone.
I don't watch this show.
