There were no real surprises when the final three singers were chosen via fan vote on Wednesday night. Lil rounds, Jorge Nunez, and Scott MacIntyre join Adam Lambert, Alexis Grace, Allison Iraheta, Danny Gorkey, Kris Allen, and Michael Sarver as nine of the final top 12 singers for season 8 of "American Idol".

The final three singers to round out the top 12 will be chosen via a wild card round. Eight singers were chosen to perform before the judges on Thursday night. After the three contestants were chosen each of the judges picked two names from the remaining 27 singers; although the judges said the choices were made as a group with two last minute changes after the fan vote was revealed.

Competing in the wild card round will be Von Smith, Jasmine Murray, Ricky Braddy, Megan Corkey, "drama queen" Tatiana del Torro, Matt Giraud, Jesse Longseth, and the singer Simon Cowell said was the easiest choice to make Anoop Desai.

Officials at "American Idol" have not revealed whetherthe three singers will be choses by the judges themselves or via fan voteand revealed on Tuesday's show. But the eight wild card choices will perform in an hour long show and they will be singing fortheir lives - or at least their singing life on "American Idol".

So far this year "American Idol" has not released any listing of themes to be used during the season, nor have they mentioned whether or not the celebrity mentors will make a return visit this season.

Once again the top 12 contestents will bge allowed to play musical instruments when they perform; something the judges have mentioned looking forward to with some of the singers.
