American Idol on Fox - April 12, 2006 : Times Up for Bucky!

Seacrest started the show by asking Simon what it would take for him to enjoy being on American Idol. Simon responded to Seacrest by saying, "I can pretend to be insincere like you." Wow, what a come back. Seacrest also pointed out, when he replayed the clip from last night, that when Taylor went to kick the microphone stand over he missed it the first time, but he succeed the second time. I didn't even notice this last night. Did you miss that too, or was I the only one not paying attention?

American Idol's results show was an hour long special tonight. American Idol played video clips for each of the eight remaining finalists. The video clips showed their loved ones telling them how great they were, and how much support their hometown was giving them. And when it came Elliott's turn to see his video clip, his mom told us that Elliott has a variety of health problems. Now we know why Elliott couldn't hold on to a job. We also found out that Paris was about to give up on her singing career, but American Idol gave her the chance to continue on.

When Seacrest asked Chris what he thought about Simon thinking he's indulgent, Chris responded by saying he does what he thinks his fans want. I applaud Chris for that one. Why? Because, it's the fans that make you who you are.

The bottom three this week was Elliott, Ace and Bucky. When Seacrest told Elliott that he was in the bottom three, he asked him to sing. Elliott hesitated a bit at first, because he wasn't expecting that, but he done what Seacrest asked him to do. Afterwards, Seacrest said there was a reason he asked Elliott to sing. He turned to the audience and asked if they thought that sounded like someone who should leave the show? The audience shouted "no." Elliott wasn't the only one asked to perform; Seacrest also asked Ace and Bucky to sing as well. They all three sung the songs that they had performed the night before, and I still didn't care for the way Ace sang "We Will Rock You."

His time was finally up, Bucky was sent home. The only surprise was that he lasted as long as he did. I'm sure it's not the end for Bucky, though. Like many of the Idols before him, American Idol gave him a start on a road to success.

Be sure to tune into Fox next week - Rod Stewart will be there to give advice to the remaining Idols. You know what I don't understand? Most of the Idols this year are young, so why all the older songs? I guess American Idol has their reasons though, and it's still not going to stop me from tuning in, because I enjoy a lot of these older songs that I remember. The only reason I said what I did is, because many of the contestants are too young to remember these songs, and because they don't know the songs it makes it hard for them to sing the songs.
