American Idol Gives Back Once Again

American Idol has rocked the world of music with social responsibility three years in a row.

The 2010 two hour fundraising event aired by FOX on Wed April 21st pulled millions of viewers, clogged social networking sites, news channels and all types of blogs.

Beginning with a thank you message from President Barack Obama and the introduction by Queen Latifah, the show kept audiences hooked with the special performances and appearances of Sir Elton John, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, The Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox, Jeff Beck and Joss Stone and Mary J. Blige, George Lopez and Wanda Sykes.

Whether you like the show or not, it is undeniable that American Idol Gives Back Foundation is taking major steps in creating awareness and raising millions of dollars for key non-profit humanitarian organizations such as Children's Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children's U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation.

Some of Hollywood most recognized stars traveled to program areas to highlight the needs of children, families and communities in the US and internationally. Ellen DeGeneres and David Arquette presented Feeding America programs in California and Simon Cowell went to Aizona with a Mobile Clinic. Jennifer Garner visited West Virginia while Ryan Seacrest was filmed in Africa as well as Morgan Freeman and Randy Jackson who traveled to Missisippi. Victoria Beckham also visited Kentucky to see Save the Children's programs.

The previous Idol Gives Back shows had key performances and the participation of internationally recognized figures such as President Obama, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, former President George W. Bush, Brad Pitt, Bono, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Annie Lennox, Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani, Josh Groban, Pink, Celine Dion, Robin Williams, Ben Stiller.

While American Idol Gives Back could be compare in a way to the beginnings of "We Are the World" written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie to raise funds for Africa in 1985, the reach, organization, professionalism and consistency of Idol Gives Back has no precedents.
