American Idol: Goodbye, Tatiana Nichole Del Toro!

Beth Inman
I have to admit I am a die-hard American Idol fan. I rush home and throw dinner together just so I can sit in front of the TV and watch the new group of talent battle their way to the top. When Ryan brought Tatiana Nichole Del Toro and Danny Gokey to the center of the stage, I felt like I knew how it would fall. If Tatiana had been as demure during her auditions as she was at this point, she would still be here.

Now, I am one of those people who honestly votes for the best singer, or at least who I think is the best; at least until this season. Yes, Tatiana Nichole Del Toro has a great voice. She belted out Whitney Houston's "Saving All My Love for You" like a pro, but the girl makes me crazy. Being America's number one choice is a whole package deal. You have to present all of you in a way that will bring people to you. When Tatiana bounced around the room, squealing and screaming, I think I made my decision at that point. I remember the setting as the judges chose the final 36. Everyone hugged, kissed and cheered for each other; until Tatiana. When she rounded the corner, doing what she does, no one got up or even congratulated her from their seat. I kind of felt sorry for the girl. Kind of. After all, she is old enough to know how to act. Too bad, I think she alienated a lot of people before she got going good.

I am very pleased at the choices that America made. Alexis Grace has an amazing voice and a nice presence. Michael Sarver was a great choice. I think this guy will surprise us all. He comes off as a very nice guy, family oriented and sure of himself. Danny Gokey is cool; another great choice. This guy has been through a great deal and has come out the other side with a great attitude.

All three are powerful singers. If this is any indication, I think we are in for a great ride this year.

My prediction: Tatiana Del Toro will be back as the wild card. The American Idol has been built on sensation and drama...and she brings it.

I'm an American and I'm rooting for Miss Tatiana Del Toro in all her splendid split-personalities.
I'm blatantly honest enough to admit like all human beings, I love drama. Tatiana brings it. She's ever so lovely messed up and I love it. I'm a fan.

I didn't think it was that suspenseful to keep Danny until the last slot was announced, because he was pretty much a shoe in. When I read your headline I thought, good riddance tatiana del toro. lol. I didn't care for her much.

You are right about Tatiana. Aside from Alexis, Tatiana was probably the best female vocalist in the first group. However, to do well on American Idol, you have to be someone that Americans want to root for. By acting like a maniac, Tatiana destroyed her chances of making it to the Top 12.

I do not watch not regularly but love it the times I do. And I think that was a great reporting!
