American Idol Judge Paula Abdul Will Be Leaving the Show

According to CNN, Paula Abdul will not be returning for her 9th year on American Idol. The world popular singing show that she helped nurture and grow into one of the hottest shows around the world. Paula Abdul stated on her Twitter page that "With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to IDOL. I'll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon".

The speculation of her not returning to the show revolves around more money and wanting a contract similar to Ryan Seacrest who makes around $45 million a year. Paula was looking for a salary comparable to other's on the show according to her manager David Sonenberg. I'm not sure what salary range they were hoping to receive for Paula Abdul, but she should have been equally compensated as the other judges. Personally, I feel that money is part of the issues, but I believe Paula has some issues with the other female judge Kara DioGuardi and lost her sense of comfort on the show from some other female having the spotlight.

Paula Abdul had a roller coast of a career on American Idol such as looking spaced out on some shows to smiling and dancing on others. Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell were known for their disagreements over performances of contestants. Paula Abdul did always provide feedback and criticism to American Idol contestants in a respectable way unlike Simon Cowell and his quirky remarks and harsh truths to many of the contestants. Either way Paula Abdul provided an encouraging voice to all contestants and that will be missed unless Kara DioGuardi can step in and fill that role and leave the rash comments to Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson.

Paula Abdul will have a hard time finding another job as good as the one she had on American Idol. Paula's work history has been revolved around the music industry and I think she's a little old to revive her music career again, but I may be wrong. Paula Abdul didn't feel the love from American Idol and realized that when she didn't receive any proposals about a new contract with the American Idol show getting ready to start the auditions for contestants on August 6.

American Idol will lose some pizzazz and flair that Paula brought to the show, but as they say life goes on and it will be interesting to see if American Idol will hire another judge or just have Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi and the famous Simon Cowell as the panel of judges for the upcoming season of American Idol.
