'American Idol' New Judges: Are Lopez and Tyler Right for 'Idol'?

American Idol Judges of the Past
As we all know, Simon Cowell finished out his last year on American Idol this past season. He is now a distant memory. No matter how much we enjoyed him, he's gone for good. We loved his quick wit and ability to tell contestants like it was. Hopefully, the new judges can be as helpful but still keep the contestants growing and learning just as Cowell did.
Not far behind him was Ellen DeGeneres. Although she said her farewells, the viewers were left wondering if she got canned. Next came Kara DioGuardi, another American Idol judge who gave the viewers a short but sweet statement about how she loved her time on the show but needed to move on. Yep, American Idol viewers think she got canned too!
One thing we came to learn was that the viewers' love for prolific artists-to-come to the Idol stage. Over the years, we've seen many different, well-known artists join the guest judges of American Idol. Some were good, some weren't. What we knew we loved were judges like Paula Abdul. American Idol viewers wanted who could sing and had the music history to really teach the contestants how to be better.
Jennifer Lopez is an icon in her own right. Not only does she sing and dance but she in an actor to boot. When you add her natural beauty, she can no doubt improve the ratings of American Idol. What we won't know is how she will interact with the contestants. Will she be a Paula, a Kara, or a Simon? A better description is, will she will be naughty or nice?
Aerosmith's Stephan Tyler appears to be a polar opposite to Lopez. Tyler is a hard rocker who looks the part of a rocker. What we know is that he is as well-known as Lopez, and is an icon as well. He has the experience and expertise to really showcase himself as an American Idol judge.
The strange part will be how different this new season of American Idol will be. But was anyone really happy with the judges last year? I think change is what the viewers wanted, and what American Idol needed to reshape the show to make it another hit show. With Jennifer Lopez, they certainly are starting off right!
