American Idol Katie Stevens- is She to Young?

Katie Stevens is a 17 year old high school senior who is giving up her senior year to compete on American Idol. The reason is she wants her grandma to see her succeed in show business before she succumbs to Alzheimer disease. Grandma according to Katie has always been her biggest supporter. Thanks to grandma she is fluent in Portuguese as is the whole family. Katie maybe only 17 but she certainly has her priorities in order.

Katie is an extremely talent singer who sounds way beyond her age. She has been an enigma to the judges, a delight to the listening public and one who possess the most commercial potential of all the contestants on this the ninth year for American Idol.

Whats Katie Like?

Katie misses hanging out with all her friends at home. She is your average normal middle class teenager with a huge dream that has changed her life forever. As a matter of fact she reminds me of Carrie Underwood who won American Idol and is now a mega country star with several Grammy's to her credit. Both were young and talented and came from a family that keeps them grounded.

Whose Katie's Favorite Idol?

Jordon Sparks is Katie's favorite Idol because she was also young when she won and she has a similar talented voice. Football is her favorite sport and Green Bay is her NFL team. She hates spiders and sang in Carnegie Hall when she was only 13 years old.

Katie Meets Adam Lambert

Katie tends to listen to adults connected with this show and pick up tips that improve her performance. Katie really blew out the judges last week with her rendition of Let It Be a Beatles favorite. Randy actually said it was hot and her best performance to date.

Meeting Adam should add to Katie's confidence and help her with that very illusive stage presence all new contestants struggle with. I look for a very spirited and over the top performance from Katie this week. Adam is relatively new on the music scene but on Idol last year he was always pushing the envelope with a wild but very entertaining performance. This is definitely Adam Lambert's strong point and should really help Katie.
