American Idol, Lee DeWyze Goes After the #1 Spot

Will Dark Horse American Idol Contestant, Lee DeWyze Win?

David Lindberg
Last night's performance night (May 18, 2010) of the final three contestants was a game changer. The one contestant who has consistently improved over the last few weeks, Lee DeWyze, showed his confidence and realization that he can win this! Next week's final show is going to be a very close finish between Bowersox and DeWyze, as Casey James cemented his time to leave. Casey's performances last night were as good as always. James has been consistently a great performer, but has lacked what Lee DeWyze has discovered, which is what it takes to be the very best that you can be. Casey is a fantastic guitar player, good singer and has all the ingredients to become a great recording artist, as I'm sure he will, but if he is trying to show how much he wants to win on American Idol, it is not coming across to the audience.

Much as in any race, claiming first place from the beginning of the race can sometimes be a bad thing. This is not to say that Bowersox has over confidence, but just that the hunger that DeWyze has realized, may be lacking when you are always being told that you are already the winner. Lee DeWyze has been the dark horse in this contest. There were many weeks, early in the contest, when he could have been given the boot. It took

Casey James will be the one to leave this week and the final show will be so close, that it will actually come down to how much Lee and Crystal WOW the audience in their performances next week.
