Fox, Tuesday, March 1, 2011, 8 PM (ET) Based on tonight's competition for the boys' spots (final 10) on "American Idol", there are some surprising names in jeopardy.

JUNE BUG, JORDAN DORSEY, TIM HALPERIN

I think the singers who are in trouble are Clint Jun Gamboa ("June Bug"), Jordan Dorsey, and Tim Halperin. Why do I feel that way?

"June Bug" would not win any popularity contests after he was mean to poor Jaycee Badeaux of New Orleans. He sang well, yes. Will the voters at home forget his Evil Emperor identity? I don't think so.

As for Jordan Dorsey and Tim Halperin, unfortunately, they did not showcase their considerable abilities with the songs they chose. Jordan Dorsey's selection of an Usher song did not win favor with the judges, who said, "I'm not sure that is who you really are?" Jennifer Lopez said she saw him as a Nat King Cole crooner. I see Jordan as a Marvin Gaye type. Even Jordan said, "I'm not a jumpy, jumpy singer," yet he sang a "jumpy, jumpy" song and, as Randy said, "It was kinda' pitchy. It just wasn't good today." Sad, but true.

As for Tim Halperin, he sang a Rob Thomas song and nobody liked it. It's really too bad, as Jennifer Lopez pegged it when she said, "You have one of the most beautiful voices I've heard."

JAMES DURBIN

Who did well tonight? Actually, everyone, especially James Durbin, the rocker, singing an up-tempo song by Judas Priest (Jennifer Lopez: "I love the way you sing. It's organic. It comes from inside. It's insane." Randy: "I tell you right here...this is how you do it.")

JACOB LUSK

Also, Jacob Lusk sang so well that Steven Tyler said, "Divine Intervention brought you here." He declared himself to be "honored" to listen to Jacob sing and said, "You make me cry when you sing." Jennifer Lopez felt that Luther Vandross "would be so proud of you. Excellent job. We're lucky to have you on here."

PAUL McDONALD

Paul McDonald of Nashville prowled the stage singing Rod Stewart's "Maggie May" with the confidence of a veteran and a big smile on his face. The judges commented the quirky quality in his voice on. All thought he did well, echoing Randy's comment, "You are so unique and different."

CASEY ABRAMS

Casey Abrams sang "I Put A Spell on You" and Steven Tyler proclaimed him to be "Out of your mind unreal. As good as it gets. Crazy good." J-Lo declared Casey to be "sexy," and the girls in the audience seemed to agree. (Casey reminds me of Joe Cocker, but Randy referenced Screamin' Jay). The judges agreed with Casey that he is "gonna' redefine what this whole thing is. Somebody wants it bad." (Jennifer Lopez). Randy said, "So different. So unique. I love it. I applaud it. More. More. More."

STEFANO LANGONE

The judges liked Stefano Langone. Steven Tyler pointed out that he knows when Stefano is giving his all because "a vein in your forehead pops. You are so good." J-Lo complimented on how consistent Stefano always is, and Randy said, "It was good, man. You could compete right now."

SCOTTY McREERY, BRETT LOWENSTERN and JOVANNY BARRETO

Scotty McReery did his normal cowboy thing (John Michael Montgomery song, singing, in his deep voice, about "A Letter from Home." Brett Lowenstern covered the Doors, "Light My Fire." He could be in trouble, also. My favorite comment came from J-Lo who said, "You did more hair tossing than me and Beyonce have, combined, in the last 10 years." Jovanny Barreto's performance was "just okay" for Randy, and it was just okay for me.
